Powick Parish Council Powick Parish Council in Worcestershire forms the first tier of local government covering the Wards of Powick and Callow End.

Working within a legal and development framework, Parish Councils form the first tier of local government. Parish Councils are the democratic voice of the community, have legal powers to provide community services and facilities, influence the decisions made by others on the way our community is developed and have a statutory right to be consulted on local planning applications. The Parish Council is not answerable to the other two tiers of local councils (Malvern Hills District Council & Worcestershire County Council), but we must make decisions in an open, accountable and transparent way. An annual budget is set each year and accounts are subject to internal and external audit. To fund the budget the Parish Council sets a precept, which is an amount of money included in your council tax bill for financing the work undertaken in the community.

🚧 PROPOSED ROAD CLOSURE – SPARROWHALL LANE 🚧

📍 Sparrowhall Lane (U62028), between its junction with the A449 Malvern Road and The Vineyard (private road).

📅 Starting: 26 November 2026
⏳ Expected duration: 3 days
🔧 Reason: Utility work by Openreach

➡️ Diversion: A449 Malvern Road → Old Malvern Road (U62022) → The Drive (U62023) → Collets Green Road (U62028), and vice versa.

🏠 Access to properties fronting the affected section will be permitted where there is no other access. Access will also be allowed for the works to take place.

The proposed works are expected to take just 3 days.

🚧 Road closure: Old Clevelode Road, Clevelode

U62003 Old Clevelode Road will close from its junction with the B4424 for its entire length while WCC carries out carriageway resurfacing.

📅 Expected closure: One day between 6 and 19 October 2026. The exact day has not been specified.

Access will be permitted to properties along the affected road where there is no other way in. The stated alternative route is via the B4424 Clevelode in either direction.

The order allows a maximum duration of 18 months, although the works are expected to take one day.

🚧 Road closure notice: U62004 Pixham

A 160-metre section of U62004 Pixham, heading east from its junction with U62005 Lower Ferry Lane, is due to close from Monday 5 October 2026 while Openreach installs new ducting.

The work is expected to take 3 days. There is no diversion because the road is a dead end.

Access will be maintained for properties on the affected stretch where there is no other way in. The legal order allows the closure to remain in place for up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration is 3 days.

Please allow extra time if you travel in the area.

🚧 Temporary Road Closures – Callow End

Please be aware of temporary closures affecting Lower Ferry Lane and Orchard Way while Openreach carries out utility work.

📅 From: 28 September 2026
⏱️ Expected duration: 5 days

Roads affected:

🔹 Lower Ferry Lane (U62005)
Closed between its junctions with Bow Hill and Upper Ferry Lane.

🔹 Orchard Way (U62007)
Closed for 25 metres westwards from its junction with Lower Ferry Lane.

Diversion for Lower Ferry Lane:
Upton Road (B4424) → Old Hill (B4424) → Pixham → Lower Ferry Lane, and vice versa.

There is no diversion for Orchard Way because it is a cul-de-sac, but access will be maintained.

Access to affected properties will be permitted where no alternative access is available.

The legal order allows for a maximum closure period of 18 months, although the work is expected to take only 5 days.

Please allow extra time for your journey and follow the signed diversion.

Please note that Powick Parish Council will be holding a meeting in August this year.

🕢 Parish Council Meeting: 7:30pm

The Parish Council does not normally meet during August. However, councillors felt it would be beneficial to hold a meeting this year to
ensure important parish business continues to be considered without delay.

Please be aware that Bastonford (U62028) will be temporarily closed from a point approximately 200 metres north-east of the southern junction with the A449 Malvern Road, extending for 155 metres in a north-easterly direction.

⏳ Expected duration: 1 day (although the legal order allows for up to 18 months if required)

Reason for the closure: Openreach will be carrying out pole replacement works.

🏡 Access: Access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected section of the road where there is no alternative access.

🚗 Diversion routes:

Anti-clockwise: Bastonford (part) → A449 Malvern Road → Bastonford (part)

Clockwise: Bastonford (part) → A449 Malvern Road (northbound) → A449 The Village → A449 Malvern Road (southbound) → Bastonford (part)

Reason for the closure: Severn Trent Water will be carrying out works to install a new water connection.

🏡 Access: Access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected section of the road where there is no alternative access.

🚗 Diversion route: Lower Ferry Lane (U62005) → B4424 Upton Road, and vice versa.

Please be aware that Station Road (C2027) will be temporarily closed between Bransford Court Lane (C2218) and Kings End Road (U62020).

Reason for the closure: Worcestershire County Council will be carrying out drainage works as part of a flood alleviation scheme.

🏡 Access: Access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected section of the road where there is no alternative access.

🚗 Diversion route: Collett's Green → Old Malvern Road → A449 Malvern Road → A449 The Village → A4440 Hams Way → A4440 Grove Way → A4103 Bransford → Station Road (part), and vice versa.
