As a CLP, we voted to endorse a national briefing on the climate emergency. Chris Packham’s petition to put this into action is nearly halfway towards being considered for a debate in Parliament and we’d encourage everyone to lend their signature to this important cause 🔗👇

It has been great to see so many people out campaigning for Bev Craig this polling day. Many of our own (and bordering) members and councillors have been out to support this really important by-election in the Greater Manchester area. 🐝

We eagerly await the results and hope to see Bev Craig elected as the new Mayor for the Greater Manchester area, which would mean delivering real change for local people!

A statement from the Chair & Secretary of South Ribble Constituency Labour Party

We would like to congratulate Andy Burnham on becoming the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Yesterday signalled a change in direction for this nation and, with the appointment of his Cabinet, we can see that this change is already being put into action. For this, we are excited to see the direction that Andy Burnham will take this country.

In the future, we look forward to working with the Prime Minister. To this end, we will continue to work with our MP, Paul Foster MP, and Burnham to ensure that the interests of the people in South Ribble are truly represented at both a national and local level. Andy Burnham has already shown what can be done with his passion and sense of purpose. We are confident that, working together, we can transform Britain into the country we all want it to be.

Much work is still to be done, but the new sense of hope and vision that has been provided by Andy cannot be understated in our minds. We are excited to support all the work that is set to occur as it represents a new start for all people in this nation.

Thank you very much for offering hope to the people of South Ribble.

People’s Emergency Briefing Film Night 📽️

Some of our members are hosting a free screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing this Friday at St. Mary’s Community Centre, Leyland.

The People’s Emergency Briefing is a 50 minute film that presents the national implications of climate and nature breakdown - along with credible, positive responses - in a single, accessible account. The screening will be followed by a group discussion of the implications of the film and how we can move forwards to deal with the problems it touches on. 🎙️
