The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment is the infantry regiment of the North West of England. We have 2 battalions; 1 LANCS based in Weeton near Blackpool and a Reserve Army battalion, 4 LANCS, based all over the North West. We also have an affiliated regiment, 3 RANGER, which was formerly 2 LANCS. Twitter

The regiment was formed on 1st July 2006, by the amalgamation of The King’s Own Royal Border Regiment, The King’s Regiment, and The Queen’s Lancashire Regiment. The Regimental Headquarters are based at Fulwood Barracks, Preston, Lancashire. Private soldiers inherited the rank of Kingsman from The King's Regiment. The cap badge is a Lancaster rose in a Fontenoy laurel surmounted by a crown. At the base is a scroll with the motto Nec Aspera Terrent (Difficulties be Damned). The regiment's Colonel-in-Chief was HM The Queen, who concurrently held the title Duke of Lancaster. We recruit soldiers from the North West, but also nationwide and the Commonwealth. We have a very strong history and proud tradition dating back to 1680 (4th of Foot).

RHQ and 1 LANCS visited The Infantry Training Centre yesterday to meet our new recruits, including recent graduates from AFC and recruits currently undertaking the Combat Infantry Course.

RHQ staff spoke with the recruits about the role and responsibilities of RHQ, while 1 LANCS RSM, WO1 Robertshaw briefed them on current battalion activity and what to expect when they join the battalion.

The visit also provided a valuable opportunity to catch up with LANCS personnel currently serving at ITC.

The recruits were enthusiastic about the future and are looking forward to joining 1 LANCS, becoming part of the battalion, and getting to work.
We look forward to welcoming them into the Regimental family!

Arroyo Day - 28 October is one of the most prominent days in our military history.

Ten of our predecessor Regiments of Foot fought in the epic seven-year Peninsula campaign, earning 17 battle honours. Of these, the most unusual, indeed unique, is Arroyo dos Molinos, an action in which the British 34th Foot routed their French counterparts, the 34e Régiment de la Ligne, and captured their Drums and Drum-Major’s Staff which are still in the Regiment’s possession on display at Cumbria's Museum of Military Life.

This was the Regimental Day of the Border Regiment and was subsequently celebrated by the King’s Own Royal Border Regiment.

🔥 EX HARAKA STORM 26/1 — THE FTX IS LIVE! 🇰🇪

The 1LANCS Battle Group has deployed into the Ilodiaga training area, and Mission One is underway. The challenge? DEFEND THE MAIN DEFENSIVE AREA (MDA).

With Task Force Hannibal (TFH) applying relentless pressure through probing attacks and simulated CBRN threats, the Kingsmen must hold firm, adapt fast and work as one to defeat the opposition. 💥

From this point, soldiers will be operating under PED RED and will not be contactable through normal personal channels. Communication will be limited to official means for the duration of the exercise until 15 Nov.

The training has been building towards this moment with trench warfare rehearsals and CBRN Lanes. Now it’s time to put the Battle Group’s preparation, resilience and fighting spirit to the test.

The ground must be held. The mission must be delivered. The Kingsmen are in the fight.⚔️

🦁 TL-C COMPLETE. RESET. REFOCUS. RELOAD 🇰🇪

As we say goodbye to Training Level Charlie, the Kingsmen take a short reset before The Duke Of Lancaster's Regiment BG launches into a 48-hour run-out to set the conditions for the FTX.

It’s time to check zero, act on feedback from British Army Training Unit, Kenya - BATUK staff, implement lessons identified and sharpen our Battle Group SOPs. Refine, adapt and get ready for the next challenge.

And what better way to kick off the 24-hour reset? FRESH FOOD ON THE GROUND!

Rest up, recharge and get ready. The hard work isn’t over yet. 💪🏽
