Work from home?

Your working day could look a little different.

If you’re available during the day and live or work close to an on-call fire station, you could join your local crew and respond to emergencies in your community.

It’s a role you can fit around your existing commitments, with full training provided.

Do something different. Join an on-call crew.

There’s definitely a chill in the air this week.

If you’re reaching for a candle to make things feel a little cosier, remember to keep it away from anything that could catch fire.

Never leave a burning candle unattended and always put it out before leaving the room or going to bed.

And remember to use a candle snuffer can help you safely extinguish the flame.

Ever wondered what the grooves in your tyres actually do?

The tread on your tyres plays an important role when you’re driving, especially in wet weather.

The grooves help to move water away from the tyre as it travels along the road, helping the tyre maintain contact with the road surface.

Watch our video to find out how your tyres work and why keeping them in good condition is so important.

This Tyre Safety Month, take a few minutes to check your tyres.

(Visual description: A person stands beside a car and talks to camera, pointing to and explaining the tread and grooves on one of the vehicle's tyres. The video explains how the grooves in the tyre help disperse water when driving on wet roads.)

Our on-call crew at Bacup Fire Station have been putting their Breathing Apparatus (BA) skills to the test.

BA drills help firefighters prepare for working in smoke-filled, toxic and low-visibility environments, where staying calm, communicating clearly and working as a team can make all the difference.

These realistic exercises help build confidence and muscle memory, so crews are ready to respond safely when it matters most.

Could you see yourself joining the crew?
