Flood Action Week: Are You Prepared?

Here's some more tips of how to stay safe during a flood:
💧Do not turn on your gas or electrics if they have gotten wet – only turn them on once they have been checked and cleared by a qualified technician.
💧Ensure good ventilation if using portable indoor heating appliances to dry out indoor spaces. Never use petrol or diesel generators or other similar fuel-driven equipment indoors – the exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide which can kill.
💧For advice and support at any time, call the Environment Agency’s 24/7 flooding hotline (Floodline) on 0345 988 1188.

We are sharing vital safety information for people living in rented accommodation or social housing:
🔥Landlords and housing providers are required by law to fit smoke alarms in all rented accommodation.
🔥Carbon monoxide alarms must also be fitted in rented properties with fixed appliances such as gas boilers or fires.
🔥Carbon monoxide alarms must also be fitted when appliances such as gas boilers or fires are installed in any home.
🔥Landlords and housing providers in social and private rented sectors are responsible for repairing or replacing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms once they are told they are faulty.
