🏰 RECULVER TOWERS – END OF SEASON UPDATE 🍂

As autumn settles over the Kent coast, our main visiting season at Reculver Towers has now come to an end for the year.

đź”’ SEASONAL CLOSURE NOTICE:
Please be aware that the North Tower is now closed for the winter season.

Our iconic twin towers stand proudly above the shoreline, watching over nearly 2,000 years of history, from the Roman fort of Regulbium to the Anglo-Saxon monastery and the medieval church of St Mary.

🌊 Even as the seasons change, Reculver remains a special place, full of history, wildlife and spectacular coastal views.

A huge thank you to everyone who has visited, supported us and shared their love of Reculver throughout the season. ❤️

We look forward to welcoming you back when the new season begins!

It’s been a little while since our last post, and we’re sorry we’ve been so quiet! ❤️

Things have been rather busy behind the scenes at Reculver Towers & Roman Fort, with our volunteers involved in all sorts of work, planning and exciting ideas for the future.

Although the Towers are now into their quieter winter period, there is still plenty happening behind the scenes. We’ve been looking at plans for 2027, developing new events and activities, working on interpretation and exploring new ways to share the incredible history of Reculver with everyone who visits.

We’ve also got some exciting things to share with you over the coming weeks, including more about our volunteers, the history of the site, some of the work that goes on behind the scenes and what we’re hoping to bring to Reculver next year.

So thank you for sticking with us, and welcome to everyone who has joined us recently. We’re incredibly grateful for your continued support. ❤️

The Reculver Towers are open today as usual from 10am–4pm.

There is a risk of some showers throughout the day, so if the ground becomes too wet, we may need to temporarily close the towers for safety.

We’ll reopen them as soon as conditions allow.
But don’t worry our Conservation in Action activities will still be going ahead and will be moved underneath the South Tower, so you can still come along, meet our volunteers and discover more about the work involved in looking after Reculver and other historic buildings!

Dr David Wright will also be joining us for one of his talks on Reculvers fascinating history at 2.00pm and our volunteers will be conducting talks on the recent conservation work carried out at Reculver Towers & Roman Fort

Carved by Jack, aged just 7, who spent some time at our Conservation in Action event having a go at creating his very own carving of the Reculver Towers.

What a fantastic result!

It’s wonderful to see younger visitors not just looking at the history around them, but getting hands-on and creating something inspired by this amazing place.

Who knows… perhaps we have a future stonemason, sculptor or archaeologist in the making!

Well done, Jack, We think your Reculver Towers are brilliant! ❤️
