🍎 Apple Day at Trevince 🍎

A Trevince tradition of coming together to assess the apple harvest and prepare it to produce fresh juice.

This involves plenty of chopping, pulping and pressing.

Although the harvest was much smaller than previous years, plenty of bottles were filled and shared.

Delicious!

The tawny owls we heard just as we were unboxing felt like they knew their new homes had arrived. We’re really excited to put these up and see who makes them their new homes 🦉

We may be closed, however we will still be keeping you up to date with all the action taking place behind the scenes at the gardens.

This week, a group of our dedicated volunteers built this beautiful dead hedge in the Shrubbery.

Its aim is to create a new habitat for resident wildlife and add a new feature to the space.

As you can see, our volunteers were extremely pleased with their endeavours!

Yesterday, the gardens were filled with gardeners and horticulturists from around the county and beyond as we hosted members from The Cornwall Professional Gardeners Group and Chartered Institute of Horticulture.

They toured the gardens and joined an inspirational talk from Mike Maunder, looking at the role of horticulture in Global nature regeneration.

We adore spotting wildlife at Trevince.

Today, Tamsyn our WFGA WRAGs trainee gardener discovered this tiny Smooth Newt within the Walled Garden.

Don’t worry though, it was put back safely!

Have you spotted any exciting animals during a visit to the garden?

Let us know in the comments below 🦎
