Advice from My Community Voice / Kent Police

Halloween is fast approaching and although it is supposed to be a fun time for all some people dread the season and worry about the knocks on the door and what nuisance children/teenagers may do to our cars and houses. I thought it would be a good idea to give you some advice about dealing problems that the season may bring.

Attached is the Kent police poster to print and display in your window. This should help detour any trick or treaters from knocking on your door.

Neighbourhood policing team have put on extra patrols especially dedicated to combatting the antisocial behaviour in Medway and even more extra patrols on Halloween itself!

Beat officers have been out & will be out providing advice to shops and strongly suggesting that they limit the sale of eggs and toilet paper to younger people.

Report! If you feel victimised by this behaviour and you are in fear, then report to us via online reporting and live chat. Remember to include.

What exactly has happened in detail
The exact time of incidents
Who has been involved, or a description of involved parties if you don’t know names.
The location of your property or vehicle
If you have any CCTV, ring doorbell or phone footage.

Quite often our child centred policing team will recognise offenders and be able to visit them at home or school the next morning to make sure that they don’t get away with this behaviour.

If you have found this helpful, please use the buttons below to like, leave feedback and share on social media. If you have any further questions, please feel free to respond via the buttons below.

Have a good Halloween!

The Postal Vote Reapplication Process

Following changes introduced by the Elections Act 2022, postal voters are now required to apply for a postal vote every 3 years. Previously postal voters had to provide a refreshed signature if the signature on record was five years or older.

We currently have 1,019 postal voters where the signature we hold is approaching its three-year expiry date. To remain as a postal voter these people will need to reapply by 31 January 2027.

We hold email addresses for 806 of these electors, and they will be contacted via email encouraging them to re-apply online. The remaining 213 electors will receive a letter with a postal vote application form to complete along with reminders (if required) between now and the end of January 2027 both via email and post.

The reapplication process will start in September 2026 and then reoccur annually for only those postal voters nearing the three-year limit.

Electors can respond via the following methods. · Online by visiting www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote - this is fastest way to reapply

· Completing the postal vote application form and sending it back via post or email to [email protected].https://www.gravesham.gov.uk/elections-voting/postal-vote-reapplications

Use this service to apply to vote by post so you can take part in elections in the UK. You must be registered to vote in the UK before you can apply.
