This registered charity is known as (Arab Foundation for Care of Victims of War and Torture).
This will facilitate links with local and international organizations who are willing to support and sponsor volunteers. We are a registered charity in the United Kingdom known as (Arab Foundation for Care of Victims of War and Torture). The mental health needs and care for victims of war and torture is great in some parts of the Arab World following the Arab Spring. The needs can’t possibly be co
vered by one single organisation and require joint work from various factions. We are a subgroup of the British Arab Psychiatrists Association(BAPA). We have completed a number of missions visiting Syrian refugee camps in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and provided some help in Libya and Gaza. The aims of this Foundation are:
- To assist in assessment and treatment of trauma victims of all ages where possible and in establishing links with local mental health professionals and volunteers.
- To co-ordinate efforts of clinicians and other professionals who are willing to help in providing their expertise and knowledge in caring for trauma affected individuals and victims.
- To facilitate links with other organizations and groups who are willing to support and sponsor volunteers to complete such care projects.
- To help in delivering training courses for clinicians and volunteers in emergency psychiatric support, coping skills and crisis management. We endeavour to prioritise our efforts to focus on areas most affected by violence and war atrocities.
