As we settle into darker mornings and evenings, it’s easy to forget that your usual route might now come with new risks.
🚗 Drivers and cyclists - slow down, stay alert, clean your lights and make sure you’re visible.
🚶‍♀️ Pedestrians - wear something bright, use lights, and stick to safe paths.

🎃 Pumpkin Safety Tips 🎃 Carving pumpkins is a Halloween tradition, but it's important to stay safe while creating your spooky masterpiece.
💡 We recommend using battery-operated lights instead of candles
🕯️ If using a candle, never leave it unattended and keep it away from decorations and costumes
🍂 Place finished pumpkins securely away from doorways and escape routes
🎃 Always carve pumpkins on a stable surface and cut away from your body
👧 Young children should help scoop out the pumpkin rather than use sharp tools

Halloween costumes are part of the fun, but they can be a real fire risk. Please read and share our tips on choosing costumes carefully.
⚠️Always look for costumes that carry the UKCA or CE mark, showing they meet relevant safety standards.
🕯️Keep capes, veils and loose clothing away from naked flames, especially pumpkins and candles.
🔥Avoid highly flammable materials if making a costume at home
🔦Add reflective accessories or carry a torch to help improve visibility after dark.

Today, Wednesday 9th September, we join the nation in honouring those who have lost their lives serving our communities for Emergency Services Day (999 Day). At 9:00 am, we'll hold a two-minute silence to remember the dedication and bravery of emergency service personnel.
We invite you to join us in this moment of reflection. Today, we'd also love to hear your messages of support for the emergency service personnel who continue to protect our communities every day.

Update from Coalpit Lane, Lawford Heath - 11:00am Tuesday 18 August
Following yesterday evening's fire on Coalpit Lane, firefighters have been working through the night to bring the incident under control.
The fire, which involved a barn containing straw, is now largely under control, with two crews remaining on scene this morning.
We would like to thank local residents for their understanding and cooperation while emergency services continue their work.

Monday 17 August 6:45pm. We are currently in attendance at a large building fire in the vicinity of Coalpit Lane, Long Lawford. This fire is visible from Coventry, Leamington and Rugby and is producing a large smoke plume. We are receiving multiple calls to the incident due to the smoke. We have five appliances, a water carrier and a turntable ladder in attendance.
If you live nearby, please close all doors and windows.

5:00pm Thursday 13 August. Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have declared a major incident due to a large fire in Salford Priors. There is a large emergency presence in the area and we continue to advise residents nearby to close all doors and windows. Please stay away from the area. Our control room is receiving a large number of calls, so please contact us only in a genuine emergency.
It's imperative that residents take all steps to reduce any fire risk. Please read advice on our social media channels about fire and water safety. You can make all the difference.

Warwickshire is once again experiencing another heatwave with heat health warnings in place. During hot weather, water-related incidents increase and it's especially important to remind children and young people of the dangers of entering water, there are often hidden risks such as cold-water shock or currents.
Would your child know what to do if they found themselves in a dangerous situation? 🆘 Show them this video and teach them the ‘Float to Live' technique. It could save their life one day!

Earlier today, Red Watch attended an incident near to the A45.
This fire was caused by glass bottles being discarded in the grass.
More bottles were then collected to prevent further incidents.

In this current spell of hot weather please take extra care when disposing of rubbish.
With grass being so dry it doesn’t take much for fires to develop!

Thankfully multiple members of the public called this in- any longer and it could have spread so much further!
