Ruthin Air Cadets Are you 12 and a half and in year 8 or older?Come and join us on Mondays and Thursdays from 1900hrs - 2130hrs. Want real flight experience? No problem.

We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do. The ACO is made up of two areas:

-Air Training Corps - The ATC is the RAF's cadet force, divided into six regions, 36 wings and more than 900 squadrons within communities around the UK

- Combined Cadet Force (RAF) - The CCF (RAF) is our section of the CCF which is made up of cadets from all three services, coming together in approximately 200 independent and state schools across the country

As a cadet you'll have the opportunity to do things that others only dream about. How about heading out on adventurous training and camps, sometimes overseas? Normal for cadets. Competitive sports, drill, shooting, music, abseiling, engineering projects? Our list of activities is long, varied and open to all cadets. Yes it's a challenge, but that's what life's all about. We are not a recruiting organisation for the RAF but if you're thinking about a Service career, cadet membership will put you ahead of the competition. Many cadets go on to great success in the RAF (and the other Services). Around 40% of officers and 50% of all aircrew (including pilots, navigators and engineers) in the RAF now are ex-cadets. Research shows that they do better in basic training and stay in the Service longer than their colleagues. Likewise, if you chose a civilian career our research proves you can go on the great things…employers just love the skills and experience that air cadets offer. Let's face it - where else would you be given the opportunity to fly solo in a glider or powered aircraft when you're 17? Whatever you do with your life, at the end of your time as a cadet you'll be self-motivated, confident and ready for anything.

🎉 A huge congratulations to Sergeant Mark Jones! 🎉

Sgt Jones has recently completed his Combined Initial Course (CIC) with the RAFAC Command & Leadership School RAF College Cranwell, taking on a challenging week packed with drill, lectures, leadership and teamwork tasks and plenty of new experiences.

A fantastic reflection of the hard work, commitment and attitude he brought throughout the week, and continues to deliver at the squadron here in Ruthin.

Well done and congratulations on a fantastic step in his journey as a senior NCO and adult volunteer.

A milestone for our very own Warrant Officer Steve Davies today, as we mark the 25th anniversary of his appointment as a Warrant Officer within the Air Training Corps.

Starting at 271 Air Training Corps (Colwyn Bay) Squadron back in 2001, followed by taking the helm at 1286 (Denbigh) Squadron in 2005. Eventually, Warrant Officer Davies took his current position in command of Ruthin Air Cadets in 2022.

Those who know him will know this time has not been without personal challenges, but he continues to part of the fantastic team of volunteers in the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

Good show 👏🏻

First-ever National Cadets Week begins with tribute from His Majesty The King

Thousands of young people across the UK are taking part in the first-ever week-long national celebration of the Cadet Forces and the life-changing opportunities they provide.

In a special message, His Majesty paid tribute to cadets and the dedicated adult volunteers who support them, recognising the vital role they play in helping young people develop confidence, skills and a commitment to service.
