Organic Countryside CIC We are a Community Interest Company which owns Noakes Grove nature preserve in Sewards End.

We own Noakes Grove: 9 acres of nature reserve and small-holding at Sewards End near Saffron Walden, Essex. Noakes Grove is open to visitors on foot at any time (as long as dogs and children are under control).

This month's tasks will include some repair work on gateposts and buildings plus some clearing of paths through the scrub.
Our work parties do a marvellous job of habitat management work, maintaining a great variety of wildflower grasslands and wildlife rich woodland, scrub and paths.

Lizard Watch
Last autumn about 60 lizards (refugees from a Walden building site, were released at Noakes Grove. Special hibernation sites were created for them and we hope many of them will have settled in and are now waking up to the warm days of spring.

Successful Open Day
This year's Open Day had more visitors than ever before. Many of them were very young - children from nursery schools and forest schools with their Mums and Dads.
The mix of attractions included fun for children: puppets and woodland games. The Bumpstead Bojangles band performed brilliantly and were fully appreciated by the adults.
Visitors had the exciting experience of meeting wildlife face to face, seeing mice being released and watching newts. Meanwhile, the refreshment stall did a roaring trade.
Maybe the stars of the show were the newly born lambs who delighted everyone whether they were cuddled with their mothers, playing with each other or just fast asleep beneath the tree.

Entry, car parking, activities and refreshments are all without charge but we welcome donations to help our conservation work
