Time to reveal the answer to last week's ! ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ”

This plaque can be found on a wall at the town centre end of Victoria Street. It commemorates Edmund Beaufort who was killed in the 1st Battle of St Albans, next to the Castle Inn. This was the first battle in the War of The Roses, which continued for over 30 years. This battle featured in Shakespeareโ€™s play Henry VI part 1, where Beaufort had previously been told by a soothsayer he would die next to a castle. Research by local historians in 2023 found however, that the Castle Inn was on the opposite side of the road.

Well done if you guessed it correctly!
