Completion of improvements on the B5345 Main Street and Egremont Road, St Bees
Cumberland Council has advised us that they will be completing the footway resurfacing works on Main Street and Egremont Road, which will begin on Monday 2nd November. The works will be carried out by Cumberland Council’s contractor, DSD Construction Limited, and are expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. However, they have scheduled the works for three weeks to allow for any prevailing weather conditions which may occur.
The works will be carried out under a road closure and will take place in three phases:
Phase 1 – Day 1: Egremont Road to Nethertown Road
Phase 2 – Days 2 to 5: Nethertown Road to Outrigg junction
Phase 3 – Days 6 to 10: Outrigg junction to Finkle Street
Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists throughout the works. Waste and recycling collections will continue as usual. We also understand that where possible they will try to accommodate resident access.
Temporary bus stop arrangements will be displayed at affected bus stops. Passengers with questions about bus services are encouraged to contact Stagecoach directly.
Cumberland Council would like to thank residents, businesses and the wider community in St Bees for their continued patience and support while these improvements are completed. They appreciate that road closures cause disruption and they apologise for any inconvenience while their contractor carries out this final phase of work.
