🌹 REMEMBRANCE PARADE – SUNDAY 8TH NOVEMBER πŸŒΉπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

The Remembrance Parade will take place on the morning of Sunday 8th November, starting at 10.30am from the War Memorial outside the Working Men’s Club.

🎺 Led by St Dennis Band, the parade will make its way to St Denys Church for the Memorial Service. Following the service, wreaths will be laid at Flanders Field in the Cemetery and at St Dennis Academy. The parade will then return to the War Memorial for the final wreath-laying ceremony.

🌹 Everyone is welcome to attend the Remembrance Parade as the community comes together to remember and pay tribute to all those who gave their lives in service. It is an opportunity for residents and local groups to pay their respects on this important day of remembrance.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURES – PLEASE BE AWARE

There will be road closures throughout the village to facilitate the parade. These have been arranged by the Parish Council, which will also manage the closures on the day.

πŸ™ We kindly ask everyone to be patient and respectful during the event.

🌹 We will remember them. 🌹

πŸ“’Storm Austen Update

πŸŒͺPlease read below Cornwall Councils update on storm Austen πŸŒͺ

Storm Austen is bringing severe weather to Cornwall, so please stay alert to the risk of flooding.

If your property is at risk, put flood protection measures in place now and be ready to act if conditions worsen.

Take extra care on the roads and never drive through floodwater. Just 30cm (one foot) of water can be enough to float a car.

Stay informed and check the latest weather and flood warnings.

🌬️ Stormy Weather – Friday Bin Collections

With strong winds forecast, we know many residents may be concerned about their rubbish and recycling collections tomorrow.

If your collection is due on Friday, Cornwall Council are encouraging you to put your bins out early in the morning rather than overnight, but only if it’s safe to do so. Please ensure any bags or loose recycling are secure to help prevent them from blowing away in the strong winds.

⏰ Please be aware that collection times may vary, and we ask residents to bear with the collection teams as they do their best to complete scheduled rounds.

πŸ“’ Cornwall Council will share any updates or changes to collections on their social media channels as information becomes available.

If your rubbish or recycling is due to be collected on Friday, please put it out early in the morning rather than overnight, and only do so if it’s safe. Make sure everything is secure so that it doesn't blow away in the strong winds.

Please bear with us tomorrow. Collection times may vary, but we’ll do our best to get to you. We’ll post updates on our social media channels if there are any changes.

Playing Field – Please Help Us Keep It Safe and Tidy

Our maintenance team have come across further damage to our Playing Field.

🚫 No motorised vehicles should be driven on the Playing Field. We do have signs on our gates to remind everyone of this. Vehicles damage the grass, churn up the ground and create muddy areas that can become slippery and dangerous.

We will be checking our CCTV footage and reporting any incidents to the local police. We also ask members of the public to report any damage they witness.

We have also found tree branches broken off to make dens, along with a child's blanket left under the trees. 🌳

🧸 Do you recognise this blanket? If it belongs to you or someone you know, please let the Parish Council know.

Going forward, we ask everyone to please respect and appreciate our lovely Playing Field. It takes considerable time, effort and money to maintain this space for everyone to enjoy. We would particularly like to recognise the hard work of our maintenance team, who have to deal with the consequences of this damage, including repairing the grass, clearing broken branches and making the area safe again.

Please help us look after our Playing Field so that it remains a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space for the whole community.

πŸšπŸ’š STOPTOBER – 2 WEEKS SMOKE-FREE! πŸ’šπŸš

πŸŽ‰ What happens to your body after 2 weeks without smoking?

By reaching the 2-week mark, your body is already beginning to benefit from being smoke-free!

🌬️ Improved circulation – Blood flow continues to improve, helping oxygen reach your muscles more effectively.

🫁 Better lung function – Lung function can begin to improve, making everyday activities like walking and climbing stairs feel easier.

❀️ A healthier heart – Your heart and blood vessels are benefiting from no longer being exposed to cigarette smoke.

πŸ‘ƒ Better taste and smell – Food may taste better and smells may become more noticeable.

πŸ’ͺ More energy – As circulation and breathing improve, some people notice they feel more energetic.

✨ Your body is healing – Every smoke-free day gives your body another opportunity to recover from the effects of smoking.

πŸ‘ Two weeks is a fantastic milestone, but the benefits don't stop here. The longer you stay smoke-free, the more your health can improve!

πŸ’š Keep going – every smoke-free day counts!
