We're delighted to be able to say that after some years of closure, Saga have reopened the West entrance to Enbrook Park, off Military Road.

The entrance was closed due to concerns about the stability of a dead tree, and also vandalism and anti-social behaviour by the entrance. Although we raised the closure with them regularly, those issues clearly needed addressing before the entrance could reopen.

Over the summer Saga (OK - mainly Paul, their Site Manager) have removed the dead tree, made the vandalised bridge safe and installed CCTV to monitor the area. Parish Council Chair Tim has passed on our thanks to Saga.

Our Winter Warmer sessions will be returning to our library from the end of October.

All the usual benefits of the library, plus "beverage and a biscuit" on a Tuesday morning 10.00-12.00 kindly supported by our neighbours Saga.

A nest was found in Sandgate - please report any sightings!

Update 17 September

The Animal and Plant Health Agency’s National Bee Unit (NBU) has informed us that it has received further credible reports of YLH.

To date there have been 201 sightings in 2026 resulting in the identification of 66 nests.

The nests confirmed this week are recorded in the following locations:

Kent
Sandgate (primary)
Slade (secondary)
Harrietsham (primary)
Capel le Ferne (secondary)

East Sussex
Lewes (secondary)
Bachelors Bump (secondary)

The following nests are awaiting destruction: Capel le Ferne in Kent, Bachelors Bump in East Sussex and Immingham in Lincolnshire.

Multiple sightings continue to be monitored by the NBU, local beekeepers and yellow-legged hornet teams at locations across Dorset, East Sussex, Essex, Greater London, Greater Manchester, the Isle of Wight, Kent and Somerset.
