The Bracknell Forest Liberal Democrats are appalled by recent reports regarding former Borough Councillor and Mayor of Bracknell Forest, Naheed Ejaz, who has been found guilty of perverting the course of justice in relation to heinous crimes committed by her son. Our thoughts and support are with the victim of their atrocious actions.
Further to revelations regarding fundraising activities in support of Ms Ejaz carried out in late 2024, we understand that Cllr Mary Temperton (Leader of Bracknell Forest Council) and Cllr Roy Bailey (Bracknell Constituency Labour Party Chair and Bracknell Forest Borough Council Executive Member for Children and Young People) have both been suspended from the Labour Party and resigned their executive positions within the council.
Their actions in respect to this case evidence demonstrably poor judgement and they have done the right thing by stepping down.
The Liberal Democrats on Bracknell Forest Council will continue to work constructively with other political groups to ensure stability and deliver for residents at this time.
