Crowle Fire Station

A group of us took the fire engine down to Thorpe Meadows on Thursday, for their Christmas Tree Lights event. Families who attended had the opportunity to check out some of the equipment we use at incidents, and the kids were all keen to climb into the cab and get their pics taken. We're always happy to get involved with local events, especially if there's hot chocolate with extra marshmallows involved.

A huge thank you to our local heroes who joined us at both of our community events here at Rustik Kitchen, Thorpe Meadows — Bonfire Night and the Christmas Light Switch-On!

The atmosphere was incredible, and it was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to meet your team. So many families loved being able to ask questions and explore the engine up close. We’re truly grateful to have had this experience.

Calling all youngsters aged between 13 and 17, in and around the Isle! Are you interested in learning more about the Fire and Rescue Service? What about the police? Army? RAF? There will be two open evenings for kids and parents to find out more about the cadet programs offered by each organisation in the local area; the first at Epworth Fire Station (30th November), and the second here at Crowle Fire Station (21st December). We hope to see you there!

We were honoured to lay a poppy wreath at the Crowle war memorial for the Remembrance Sunday service this morning, alongside many others. There was a great turn-out of over 200 people, paying their respects and commemorating the British and Commonwealth armed forces members killed in all wars and conflicts worldwide.

Who's going to the bonfire at Rustik Kitchen tomorrow (Tuesday 4th)? Get yourself to Thorpe Meadows, just outside of Crowle, off Eastoft Road, to watch an impressively big pile of wood go up in flames 🔥🔥🔥 We always recommend that people go to organised events this time of the year, rather than run the risk of setting fire to their fences or sheds 😝 Not only is this a family-friendly event, it's dog friendly too! There will be no fireworks, so you can bring your pooch with confidence! We'll see you there!

We hope that you are as relieved as us that Crowle's water supply is now back on. The pallettes of bottled water that were dropped off at the fire station are almost empty this morning so it is good to know that people have been making use of them. Thank you to Crew Manager Orrell, and Firefighter Fisher and Mrs Fisher for helping to load cars with water last night, and also to everyone else involved with making sure that drinking water was delivered to Crowle's most vulnerable community members.

As well as not being able to shower, flush toilets, wash up and just have a glass of water, a break in the mains supply was of extra concern to the Fire Service as it also meant that none of the fire hydrants in Crowle were working. As you can imagine, in the event of a fire this could be devastating! However, we always have a back up plan. As soon as the mains failure was reported plans were put into place by Control to send extra fire engines for water should there have been a fire in our local area. All fire engines have the capability of drawing water from an open supply, such as canals and lakes, and our local knowledge means that we know the best locations at which to do this. Whilst one fire engine would fight the fire, the other would relay water back and forth, for as long as was needed. Fortunately we didn't get any shouts during that time but we just wanted you to know that even when there's a major infrastructure failure, we are always capable and ready to come help anyone in need.

A (slightly late) happy new year to you all, from the on-call crew at Crowle Fire Station! Our new year resolutions are to continue serving and protecting our local community, and also to try and post more often on this page! This morning we were woken up by our alerters to go and assist Epworth with an RTC; our first shout of 2025. As you'll have no doubt already seen, conditions outside are treacherous, so please be extra careful, whatever you get up to today. Stay safe, everyone! 🚒

Today serving and retired staff attended the funeral of Councillor John Briggs, Chair of Humberside Fire Authority.

John was an integral part of our fire family. For over twenty years, he dedicated himself to Humberside Fire Authority ensuring that the local communities across the Humber region were provided with an emergency response to fire, flooding and other emergency rescues, alongside blue light partners.

John lived in Crowle and the funeral was at St. Oswald's church. Crowle fire crew were honoured to lead the procession, with Epworth bringing up the rear.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends during this sad time.

Calling all youngsters of Crowle! Are you aged between 13 and 16, and interested in seeing what it's like to be a firefighter? The Fire Cadets program has started at Goole and there are still spaces going.

Learn how to slip a hydrant, roll out hose and deliver water to put out a fire! Get your hands on the equipment on a fire engine and find out how it's used to save people! Work as a team with your fellow cadets to complete tasks, increase your knowledge on safety and prevention, and learn skills which you can take away into your community! There's even a level 2 BTEC Award at the end of it!

The cadets meet at Goole Fire Station on a Monday evening, from 17:30-19:30. Each session is run by at least two dedicated instructors. Don't worry about having missed the first session; our instructors will make sure you're up to speed in no time. We'll provide the fire kit, the equipment and the fire engine. All we ask from you is to have a great attitude, a desire to learn, and loads of enthusiasm :)
