Rogue Clothing Banks - Gamecock Meadow Recycling area

The two unauthorised clothing banks in the recycling centre adjacent to the Library car park will shortly be removed from the site. It was established that donated items were not being collected on behalf of a registered charity, and neither of the companies responsible for the clothing banks had sought permission from either West Kingsdown Parish Council or Sevenoaks District Council to place them on the land.

The Parish Council has made efforts to identify a suitable charitable organisation to provide a replacement clothing bank; however, to date, no suitable provider has been secured. The Council will continue to explore available options and will provide an update should a replacement facility become available.

In the meantime, residents wishing to recycle unwanted clothing may use the nearest alternative facilities located in New Ash Green, Horton Kirby, or at the Swanley Household Waste Recycling Centre.

SEVENOAKS DISTRICT IS NOW AN AGE FRIENDLY COMMUNITY!

You maybe aware that Sevenoaks District recently became an Age Friendly Community

Sevenoaks District Council are one of Kent’s first members of a UK Network of Age-friendly Communities

We have joined over 100 places representing over 30 million residents across Britain committed to making their cities, towns and villages more adapted to the over 50s.

Supported by the Centre for Ageing Better, we will be working towards improving the places, opportunities and services that help people stay active, connected and independent as they age.

As part of this we are undertaking a survey starting today until 31 December 2026.

You can complete the survey on line here:

https://engagement.sevenoaks.gov.uk/communities/agefriendlycommunitysurvey/

or Sevenoaks District Council can send paper copies if you prefer.

Many thanks for your help and support

Silver Sevenoaks District!

Between October and December, Sevenoaks District Council is celebrating older people with ‘Silver Sevenoaks District’ which includes lots of free and low-cost events for the over 55s.

Events include a Silver Celebration, a music afternoon with afternoon tea, free leisure centre passes and a Christmas party.

There are other regular events that the Council is promoting such as exercise classes, Steps to Wellbeing walks, informative talks, lunch clubs, social groups and more.

Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet Member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball, says:

“Silver Sevenoaks District is a wonderful way to celebrate older people. It’s a great opportunity for the over 55s to try new hobbies and meet new people.

“There’s something for all abilities and interests and best of all, most of them are free or low cost.

“We expect the events we’re organising to be popular, so if you or someone you know is interested, please book in advance.”
