Share a special story time with your little one this Autumn - join us at Sidmouth Library to hear the story of 'Slippery Cyril' told by the author Jax King! 🐻
Cyril the bear means well… he just can’t seem to stay upright! From tumbling trees to soggy surprises, he’s always in a bit of a muddle. But with some encouragement from his friends, will Cyril finally find his feet? Full of laughter, warmth, and wobbly fun, Slippery Cyril is a delightful story about friendship, teamwork, and finding your balance.
Join us on Friday 30 October at 10.30am after our Bounce and Rhyme session for this magical story time. Contact library staff to book your FREE place for this story and craft session!

The Halloween Costume Swap Rail is up and ready to be used! 🎃
Whether you have old costumes you'd like to donate to a new home or are looking for something your little one can use this year, please feel free to come and have a browse during our opening hours!
Did you know about 83% of shop bought Halloween costumes are made from oil-based synthetic plastics (like polyester)? And roughly 40% of Halloween costumes are worn only once before being thrown away! 😱
Swapping children's costumes is a brilliant way to help look after the environment by reducing carbon emissions from manufacturing and keeping synthetic clothes out of landfill. Do your bit for the environment (and your wallet) by swapping out your child's old costume for a second-hand one! 🌎♻💸

Dear customers, please hear our USB Plea! 🙏💚
Our Home Library Service volunteers work incredibly hard delivering library books to people in and around Sidmouth who are unable to access the library themselves. Depending on a customer's needs the books brought to them can be in a variety of formats - from Large Print to CDs. For some of our HLS customers, Eaudio books placed on USB sticks are the best, most accessible option.
Currently, we have more HLS customers using this option than we have USBs to enable it. If you have a USB you no longer need (ideally of about 32GB capacity to enable the addition of multiple books) we would really appreciate any donations to help fulfill this service.
Alternatively, if you don't have a USB to donate but would still like to support this service, we have added some to our Amazon wishlist that are £6 each:

Join us on Thursday 29 October at 3pm for this free talk to find out more about Vanessa's book: 'From the Royal Flying Corps to the Race to Circumnavigate the Globe: The Adventures of Squadron Leader Archibald Stuart-Maclaren'.

Can you help us share the books everyone wants to read this month? 📚

There’s high demand for our 10 most wanted titles, and many eager customers are waiting to borrow them. We’ve purchased as many copies as our budget allows, but if you’re able to help, we’d be truly grateful.

If you have a pristine copy, you’ve finished reading - whether it’s one you bought yourself or received as a gift - you can donate it at any library in Devon or Torbay. We’ll add it to our collection to help reduce the waiting list.

Thank you so much for your support! 💚
