We are proud to share our students' creative contributions to the Staines Rotary Creative Wings project! 🦢

Young people across Spelthorne have been invited to create individual feathers for Creative Wings, a large-scale sculptural swan. The finished artwork will be exhibited at Staines Library hub, bringing together individual drawings, words, memories, ideas and aspirations.

Our students messages remind us to appreciate the little things, "stay for the credits," and enjoy the butterflies. What does one student want adults to know? Some games can't be paused!

The feathers will form part of a digital archive for Spelthorne musem, creating a lasting record of young people's voices, creativity and experiences in 2026.

Congratulations to Methuki, Dinuri and Ariana from the The Matthew Arnold School whose bookmark designs have been selected as the winners for the Surrey Arts bookmark competition.

Their bookmarks, featured in this post, have been professionally printed for distribution at the annual Spelthorne Cultural Fair and are now available to students through the school’s library!

On Friday 16 October, the Matthew Arnold School will be supporting Show Racism the Red Card, a national anti-racism education charity that works to challenge racism and promote equality and inclusion.

To mark the occasion, students and staff are invited to wear red something red instead of their usual uniform.

Join us in wearing red as a symbol of our solidarity and collective commitment to standing against racism. Let’s show racism the red card—this Friday and every day.
