Huge thank you to the cadets for putting up the rememberence poppies up at the castle ready for remembrance day.

Thank you so much for making our castle grounds look beautiful. The flower beds always look brilliant.
Enjoy your retirement.

Andrew caught up with Martyn on Wednesday to thank him for his many years of public service and in particular for tending the grounds of Knaresborough Castle so diligently for the past ten years. On behalf of the community of Knaresborough, thank you Martyn for all your hard work and good humour and vey best wishes for your retirement.

-- FIREWORKS, an important message from Cllr James Pickard --

We are fortunate enough to have not one, but two (three if you include the Stray) local professionally run Firework Displays so we urge you to take advantage of them rather than running the risk of home Fireworks in your back garden. As an an ex Firefighter I have seen the devastation that home released Fireworks can cause so please don't be "that person". Get yourself down to one of the following:

Knaresborough Cricket Club - 4th Nov 2026 - Gates open at 6pm, Fireworks launched at 7pm ran by Knaresborough Revolution & Knaresborough Cricket Club

Mother Shiptons Fireworks - 5th Nov 2026 - Displays at 6.30pm & 7.30pm ran by Mother Shiptons

Harrogate Round Table Stray Bonfire - 7th Nov 2026 - Bonfire Lit 6.30pm Fireworks 7pm ran by Harrogate Round Table

Stay safe!!!

Our Knaresborough Lib Dem councillor team led by Hannah and Matt fully support this campaign. We are appalled to see our river polluted, much of it due to sewage discharge that is Yorkshire Water responsibility.

Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Tom Gordon has joined campaigners on the River Nidd to call for stronger action against sewage pollution.

As posted by residents in local groups the footpath down the side of the vets is blocked. We’ve reported to NYC so hopefully will be cleared soon. I suspect there’s going to be backlog after today however.

Investing in climate action isn’t just the right thing to do for the future; it can deliver real benefits for residents today, and we would to see North Yorkshire Council being more ambitious in recognising the value of this work and investing more in the people who can help make it happen.

North Yorkshire Council is facing criticism over its slow progress towards net zero after new figures revealed a rise in emissions from its vehicle fleet.
