Donate to Hertfordshire Libraries

It’s now easy to donate online to the library service by visiting our website. We are often offered donations of money by users who wish to show their appreciation for the service. Now you can also support the library service by donating online. You don't have to donate. Hertfordshire Libraries are a universal and free service to the community. Your decision to donate is an entirely voluntary one. We ask that you donate only as much as you feel comfortable with. You may want to consider either a one-off payment or more frequently.

100% of each donation goes directly to Hertfordshire Libraries and is used to maintain and enhance our services. https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/librarydonations

Last week, Stevenage Central library hosted a work experience student, who learned about the many different tasks that take place each day at the library both on the customer facing side and "behind the scenes". One of their many contributions to the team was creating a display showcasing our collection of books:

"During my week of work experience, I noticed many people were looking for parenting books, so I decided to create a display of parenting books that I felt could empower parents. You can see my display in the study platform on the first floor."

We had a fantastic time at our LEGO Club "Read to the Beat" session on Saturday 4th July. The children built some amazing musical instruments and concerts to celebrate the beginning of the Summer Reading Challenge, which will be running until the 5th of September (6th of September at Stevenage Central Library).

LEGO Club runs every Saturday 3-4pm and is for ages 5-12. It is £4.40 for the session and can be booked either at the library, or by messaging us on Facebook. We hope to see you there!

Meet Jade – one of our Summer Reading Challenge: Read to the Beat characters! 🎶

Jade is a massive football fan with a creative flair. They love new experiences like learning languages, and express themselves with paint when words aren’t enough.

We’ve chosen three books that we think Jade would borrow from the library. Why not reserve one of them today?

• Unbelievable Football by Matt Oldfield:

One of our Library staff decided to recommend not one, but seven books for this month - a series which they say "Everyone must read at least once".

"In "Once", Felix is in an orphanage and doesn't understand why his parents don't come to get him. In Poland, 1942, N***s come to the orphanage and burn the books. Felix Escapes, leading to 7 Books that tell the story of a 10-year-old boy's endurance and survival strength through WWII and beyond."

Have you read this series? Let us know what you think...

Meet Ezra – one of our Summer Reading Challenge: Read to the Beat characters! 🎶

Ezra loves both orchestral music and poetry. He likes how different elements come together, which also shows in his love of making food with his friends.

We’ve chosen three books we think Ezra would borrow at the library. You can reserve these books and more on the Hertfordshire Libraries catalogue.

• How to Build an Orchestra by Mary Auld:
