Are you ready for the change?
Next week the regulation of water, waste management and industrial activities will move under the Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (EASR).
If you or your business currently holds an authorisation, this change on 1st November may affect you. What you need to do will depend on the type of authorisation you currently have and the activity you’re doing.

⚠️REMINDER! There is only one day until businesses must register equipment containing Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs).
PCBs were primarily used to improve the performance of electrical equipment oils. These are often found in industrial sectors.
📅By 31st OCT, relevant equipment must be registered with NIEA at: https://digitalapps2.daera-ni.gov.uk/PCBEquipmentRegister/StartHere
📅By 31st DEC, these must be removed from use.

From 1st November 2025, the regulation of these activities will move under the Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (EASR).
Most authorisations will automatically transition, but for some there will be changes to conditions, or you might need to apply for a new authorisation.
