Well done to our infant feeding team 💪🏻

“My little girl is almost 7 months old now and I genuinely wouldn’t have gotten this far breastfeeding if it wasn’t for the support of the infant feeding team.

I’ve dealt with Mel on the phone and Liz and Laura face to face and they were all so incredibly helpful and lovely. Laura even went out of her way to drive to my house to drop off a manual breast pump for me as mine had broken!

I desperately wanted breastfeeding to work out this time around as I stopped after three weeks with my first and just wasn’t educated enough about it. I first spoke to the team when I was pregnant, and Laura gave me lots of advice.

I called the helpline when Halle was only 3 days old when I was in a lot of pain with feeding and they fit me in straight away with Liz and saw me two further times to make sure the latch was right.

We’re 7 months in now and I never thought I’d get this far, I still call now for advice! - thank you so much to the whole team for your support.”

☀️ Pram covers ☀️

When you're out and about in this lovely weather it's important to keep your baby out of direct sun. Stay in the shade as much as possible, even if they are in their pram or under a canopy.

Do not cover your baby’s pram with blankets or cloths as this could cause your baby to become too hot. Instead, use a parasol or shade to protect your baby from the sun, but make sure that air can circulate and you are still able to see your baby and monitor their temperature.

If you're worried your baby is getting too hot, you can check their temperature by feeling their chest or back of their neck.

Just what is Infant Mental Health, and why does it matter??

Robin Balbernie explained that:

“Positive predictable interactions with nurturing caregivers profoundly stimulate and organize the structure of young brains.

The quality of early caregiving has a long lasting impact on…
- how people develop
- future emotional and physical health
- the ability to learn,
- the capacity to both regulate emotions
- the capacity to form satisfying intimate relationships.”
