Signpost for Carers

Did you know we have a team of volunteer student counsellors who support us in our wellbeing hub? This helps our counsellors see more carers to provide whatever therapeutic support they may need.

Overall our volunteers have support 246 different carers at 19 different events - we couldn't support as many carers as we do without their help.

Volunteers are at the heart of what we do - if you've ever been to a Signpost group it's likely you've spoken to one of our volunteers.

Whilst we would love to support everyone, it just isn’t possible. Our amazing former carer volunteers ensure that there is space for people whose caring journey has ended.

Pauline, Deirdre, Annie and Carol have been running our former carers group at Berretto in Stockport for six years now. They have supported countless carers on their transition from caring to not caring, which can be a challenging and confronting time of their lives. The support they've given is invaluable!

Our former carers group takes place twice a month and you can find the next date on our website.

What an a amazing day at the Great Manchester Run! We're so grateful to all our runners and supporters who came down on the day - we're so excited to say we've been able to raise £7275 to support unpaid young and adult carers across Stockport.

We'd also like to say a huge thank you to Banyan Tree Corn Exchange for hosting our runners reception, it made a huge difference having somewhere to meet and relax.

⭐It's Volunteers Week 2026 ⭐

As a charity we couldn't cope without the support of our amazing volunteers, whether that's our Trustees who help head up the strategic side of the organisation or those who come for volunteer days to help us refresh our building.

So far this year our volunteers have given over 1,239 hours which is equivalent to around 2 full time staff!

Upcoming workshop alert!

This ones for our working carers, balancing work and caring responsibilities can be overwhelming. Join our 4-week therapeutic workshop designed to help working carers better understand and manage anxiety, stress, and worry.

Taking place at our home the Heatons Centre from 5:30-7:30 on Tuesdays 23rd June - 14 July. This session will be led by our BACP-registered carer focused counsellors,

You will:
• Build practical coping strategies
• Improve work–care balance
• Strengthen resilience and self-care
• Connect with other working carers

We suggest a donate of £50 to help us cover the costs of this course however if this is a barrier to you attending please book without donation, no one is excluded from our events.
