Lark Hill Nursery School

Happy new year to you all. Just to clarify for everyone Lark Hill Nursery School closed on 31st August 2025. Lark Hill Primary School then opened a Nursery Class with most of the original, wonderful Nursery staff in the same place. As we've had lots of new followers we just wanted to clarify what had happened.

***Out of their comfort zone***
Pop in to see what we can offer your 2,3 or 4 year old.
We want our children to know they can try anything and feel proud of themselves for what they achieve. We love to take our children out of their comfort zone to help them learn something new. Our skilful staff know just what the children need to know, understand or do next. Whether it is to visit somewhere different, tackle a new skill or collaborate with a friend these qualities set them up to be a more resilient and a determined learner for the future.

Inspired to develop our heuristic play for our children. Great to have time together as a team to think about ways to support this play with our children. Excited to see what the children do with our new treasures !

***Progress***
As we prepare to say goodbye to our leavers in a few weeks we have been thinking about how much progress all of our children have made. They have taken huge strides in independence, confidence, making friendships, learning about themselves, developing their language, understanding new concepts such as time and developing new skills such as negotiating ideas in their role play. We are so proud of you all and will miss you. We are excited to continue learning alongside our returners and all of our new children.
Pop along to Stay and Play every Thursday between 9:30-10:30 to play with your child. Only three more Thursdays to come and play before we finish for the Summer.

***Sharing***
An important part of our work is helping our children learn about sharing. They enjoy playing alongside others and then start to understand taking a turn involves waiting. By the time of year before moving on to Primary School our children are showing they have developed sophisiticated skills to share and negotiate. This week we went to visit Plane Tree Court Care Home again and the children happily shared the experience of painting with the residents with our lovely new watercolour paint sets. Thank you so much for letting us come on our weekly visits. We think it is an important life skill to learn to share and be aware of the needs of others. There are so many moments of sharing at Nursery we love to promote and see.
