Could you be a Stockton Street Angel? Come and meet us.

We’ve already heard from some lovely people who’d like to volunteer, and there’s still time to put your name forward.

We’re getting a team together to be a friendly face in Stockton town centre on Saturday nights. That might mean helping someone who’s lost their friends, checking in on someone who’s upset, or knowing who to call when someone needs a bit more help.

If you saw our first post and thought, “I might fancy that,” we’d love to hear from you. We’re getting together at 5pm on Wednesday 11 November for a relaxed chat about what volunteering involves and what training and support you’ll have. You’re welcome to come along, ask questions and see if it feels right for you.

Could you be a Stockton Street Angel? 💙

We’re looking for caring, approachable people who want to make a positive difference in Stockton town centre.

Stockton Street Angels will be a team of volunteers offering a friendly presence, practical support and reassurance to people enjoying a night out.

Our volunteers will carry backpacks filled with useful supplies to help people when they need a little support. Whether that’s offering a listening ear, practical help or reassurance while someone finds a safe way home, small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

We’re now inviting expressions of interest from people who would like to be part of the team.

As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to:

💙 Give something back to your community
💙 Meet new people and be part of a supportive team
💙 Develop your confidence and practical skills
💙 Access training to help you feel prepared in the role
💙 Gain experience that could support your personal development and future opportunities

You don’t need previous experience. What matters most is that you’re kind, reliable and willing to help others.

The team will operate on Saturday evenings, from 10pm to 2am, with a briefing beforehand. We welcome interest from people of all genders and backgrounds.

😇 An update on Stockton Street Angels

Stockton Street Angels is a project that began during Stockton BID’s term, with the aim of creating a volunteer team to provide support and reassurance to people enjoying Stockton town centre at night.

As part of the BID’s legacy, work is now continuing to establish a strong, sustainable structure for Stockton Street Angels and prepare the project for its next stage.

The aim is to create a friendly, visible team of volunteers who can offer practical help and reassurance on Saturday evenings. This could be as simple as helping someone who has become separated from friends, supporting them to make contact with someone they trust, or helping them access appropriate support or a safe way home.

The project is being supported by funding from the Stockton BID legacy and the Police and Crime Commissioner.

We’re currently developing the next stage of the project and will soon be inviting expressions of interest from people who would like to become a Stockton Street Angel.

🐾 Dog Friendly Stockton - our legacy continues!

We’re building on Dog Friendly Stockton to help more people discover the town centre with their four-legged friends.

Through funding from Stockton BID’s legacy programme, Wags & Whiskers Pet Boutique & Canine Cafe will take the project forward, showcasing dog-friendly businesses and helping owners feel confident about where their dogs are welcome.

From a coffee stop to a spot of shopping, look out for updates celebrating places you can enjoy together. 🐶

We’re creating an up-to-date Dog Friendly Stockton directory, helping residents and visitors discover town-centre shops, cafés, venues and other businesses they can enjoy with their four-legged friends.

🌸 Our favourite BID hanging basket spotting so far! 🌸

We handed out our Stockton in Bloom baskets a couple of months ago, and with one of the driest summers we’ve had, keeping them looking this good has been no easy task! They’re incredibly thirsty and need watering every single day.

These guys have absolutely excelled themselves, just look at it thriving! They also purchased one of our subsidised watering aids, which works like a hose without needing access to an outside tap. Such a clever little solution and clearly working brilliantly!

Now… can you guess where in Stockton this beauty is? 👀🌺
