Apologies for the late news but as of 1st March the old Runway 10/28 has been bought back into service. Many thanks to the based resident and the RFFS team who have shown determination to get the project done and to Wolverhampton Airport staff.

News
Some of you may be aware that the CAA have formally objected to the planning permission for the gigafactory at Coventry airport. The CAA referred to preserving and maintaining a network of airfields and noted that the importance of it being active in World War Two. The question was well halfpenny green was an active airfield in World War Two also?
The CAA were written to by the planners on 14th Jan 2021 and have not yet responded. A letter received from the CAA yesterday refers us to contact the airfield advisory team directly- so hopefully more of an update next week.
It’s worth noting that halfpenny greens location outside of controlled airspace, and close proximity to the Welsh mountains and various visitor attractions locally make it a viable airfield in its own right, never mind the support base for commercial operators and the history of the airfield from World War Two. Birmingham is only an hours drive away and four million people live within an hours drive of the airfield.
