Let's get to the root of it... 🌱
What do you get when you combine dedicated volunteers, a hidden community garden and a £2,000 Climate and Nature Grant?
Well, at Community Group CIC, you uncover a few surprises for starters.
After battling brambles, undergrowth and nature's determination to do its own thing, volunteers have been hard at work revealing some real gems in the community wildlife and food-growing garden. Thanks to their efforts, and our £2,000 grant, the project can continue to grow, helping even more people learn about growing food, supporting wildlife and enjoying the outdoors.
The garden may have become a little wild in places, but these volunteers weren't deterred. They've rolled up their sleeves, grabbed their gardening gloves and proved that where some people see an overgrown patch, others see potential.
And speaking of potential... one of the photos shows everyone standing with their arms outstretched imagining where future trees could go. It looked a bit like they were measuring up for the world's largest group hug 🤗🌳
Projects like this don't happen because of grants alone. They happen because local people give their time, energy and enthusiasm to make their community a better place. A huge thank you to all the volunteers past and present who have helped this garden put down roots and flourish.
The volunteers aren't just growing vegetables and wildlife habitats, they're growing something even bigger. Paganhill Community Group is working to secure The Octagon as a permanent community home and is inviting local people to a special film screening and community gathering on Saturday 21 November. If you'd like to see what all the fuss is about, hear the story so far and help shape what comes next, pop along. After all, communities grow best when everyone pitches in.
