πŸ” Discover Hidden Heat Loss in Your Home β„οΈπŸ
Free Thermal Imaging Camera Hire

Haydon Wick Parish Council now offers a FREE to hire thermal imaging camera for residents to help identify where heat is being lost from their homes.

Using infrared technology, the camera highlights common problem areas such as: βœ… Gaps around doors, windows, and letterboxes
βœ… Cold spots near external walls or plumbing

This can help you make simple, low-cost improvements to reduce drafts and energy bills, or decide whether larger upgrades like insulation may be needed.

Keeping homes warm is especially important during winter, as cold homes can worsen respiratory and cardiovascular conditions and impact mental wellbeing.

πŸ“± How it works
Connects to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth
Used with the FLIR ONE app
Available to hire for one week

πŸ“ Who can hire?
Haydon Wick Parish residents only
Proof of address required
Collection from our council offices

βœ… Improve your home’s energy efficiency
βœ… Stay warmer
βœ… Save money

🌳 Exciting plans for Haydon Wick's green spaces!

We are working with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust to apply for funding that could bring up to 45 new trees, native hedgerows, and vital habitat improvements across the parish, helping local wildlife thrive while enhancing spaces for residents to enjoy. 🦎🌿

If successful, the project will also create opportunities for schools, community groups and volunteers to get involved in making a lasting difference for nature.

🌳 Parks & Open Spaces Update πŸ‚

🌿 Hedges & Shrubs
Our team has been working hard to complete resident requests, successfully delivering 11 large projects in just two weeks.
From next week, path maintenance resumes, starting at HP1 and continuing to the Tawny Owl opening. Please take care when passing the team as they carry out the work. 🚧

🌱 Grass Cutting
Next week brings the final grass cuts of the season. A huge thank you to the team for keeping our open spaces looking great. They’ll now move on to epicormic growth removal, crown lifting and low-level shrub maintenance. βœ‚οΈ

πŸ“Š Parks & Open Spaces (POS) Reports
Between 23rd September and 23rd October, we received 64 reports, with 36 completed. βœ…
The majority of reports related to hedges and shrubs, alongside some fly-tipping, litter, play parks and tree issues.

🚨 Quick Action When It Matters!
Today, three residents reported a fallen tree, and the team responded without delay. While dealing with it, they discovered a second fallen tree and tackled that too.
A great example of the team’s quick, proactive response to urgent issues, helping keep our parks and open spaces safe. πŸ‘

πŸ› οΈ Parks & Projects
As well as their day-to-day duties, the team has been busy delivering a range of maintenance and improvement works, including:
πŸͺ΅ Fence maintenance at Tadpole Field and White Eagle Park.
πŸ› Infant seat replacements at several play parks.
πŸ”§ Surface repairs at Galloway Play Park.
🌿 Hedge maintenance at Rose Walk Allotment.

πŸ‚ Autumn Sweeping
Our sweeper has been tackling leaf-fall hotspots to help keep pathways safe. Backpack blowers are also out clearing stubborn leaves and debris.πŸƒ

A big well done to the team for keeping our parks and open spaces well maintained.πŸ’š

β˜•πŸ’› Companions CafΓ© πŸ’›β˜•

This morning at the Haydon Wick Bowls Club, our carers came together for a warm and welcoming Companions CafΓ©. There was so much sharing, kind words and, most importantly, everyone felt heard. πŸ€—

This cafΓ© is a safe space where you can sit, share and know you’re not on your own. We also gathered some wonderful ideas for future guest speakers, so watch this space. 🎀

Meanwhile, in the Haydon Wick Parish Council Offices, our friends from Right at Home Care were looking after our loved ones living with dementia, and what a joyful time they had. There was chatting, laughter, a few rounds of skittles 🎳 and a lively game of musical bingo. 🎢

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the wonderful Right at Home Care team for their warmth and care. You made the morning special. πŸ’›

πŸ“… Our next Companions CafΓ© will be on Thursday 26th November, 10:00am–12:00pm.

πŸŽ‰ A huge well done to the pupils of Greenmeadow Primary School! πŸŽ‰

Councillors were delighted to visit the school to present a prize of craft materials in recognition of the pupils' fantastic contribution to our β€œWhat Does Haydon Wick Mean to You?” bus shelter project.

The children shared wonderful designs, creative ideas and inspiring artwork that helped shape our final bus shelter mural.

Their enthusiasm and imagination played a vital role in making the project such a success.

πŸ‘ Thank you, Greenmeadow Primary School, for helping to celebrate what makes Haydon Wick such a special community!

β˜• Tea, chat and plenty of conversation at Haydon Wick Haven. πŸ’¬

We had a lovely morning at the Haven today, welcoming a couple of new faces alongside our regular visitors.

We were joined by a Will writer ✍️ who shared some useful advice on Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA), and offered free guidance.

πŸ“Œ One key tip: Keep track of where your Will is stored, and make sure those named in it can find it and access it when needed.

There were crosswords, plenty of laughs and lively conversations about local issues, including noisy roads, footpaths and upcoming events, especially Christmas!πŸŽ„

The Haven is all about friendly faces, good company and bringing people together.

Why not pop in for a cuppa, have a chat and meet some new people? Everyone is welcome. β˜•πŸ˜Š

Next Haven: Monday 2nd November 2026, 11am–1pm
