We were delighted recently, to welcome Jas Stubbs and her partner, Matt Busby, who have taken on the incredible challenge of this year’s Ironman Wales in September to raise money for the RNLI.

Jas, a chiropractor, is no stranger to Ironman competitions. Having grown up watching both her parents take part in the gruelling event on numerous occasions, she always knew that one day she would compete herself.

Jas and Matt, a self-employed pump engineer, both spend a lot of time in the sea, so when they signed up for Ironman, choosing to raise money for the RNLI was a no-brainer!

After training together all year, they had planned to race their own races on the day. However, fate had other ideas! After the swim, they found themselves together in the transition tent and ended up sticking by each other throughout the entire event. Supporting one another through the toughest moments, they ultimately crossed the finish line together — an amazing achievement and a wonderful example of teamwork and determination.

A huge congratulations to Jas and Matt on completing such an incredible challenge, and a massive thank you for choosing to support the RNLI. We are extremely grateful for your generosity and support!

🎉 More congratulations are in order this week! 🎉

A huge well done to four members of our crew who have achieved some fantastic qualifications today! 👏

🚤 Ben Field-Thomas has passed out as an All-Weather Lifeboat (ALB) Navigator, just two weeks after achieving the same milestone on our Inshore Lifeboat!

👏 Maisy Woodcock, Jack Waring and Jack Oliver have also successfully passed out as T2 All-Weather Lifeboat Crew.

These qualifications are no mean feat. They are the result of months of hard work, dedication and countless training launches, by day and night, in all sorts of weather conditions. And that’s before facing the thorough assessment they’ve successfully completed today, with multiple scenarios designed to test their knowledge!

All four crew members deserve huge credit for their commitment, determination and hard work. We’re incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.

Well done, all four — a massive effort and thoroughly deserved! 🙌🎉

Busy week for the station culminating in the station’s 100th shout of the year

It’s been a busy 7 days for the station, with the Haydn Miller returning to us following several months of maintenance at Mainstay Marine. We're thrilled to have her back.

We also gained a new inshore lifeboat helm and a navigator in the form of Eddie Waring and Ben Field-Thomas respectively.

Then, to top it all off, we also had our 100th shout of the year this afternoon, when the inshore lifeboat was launched to assist a swimmer that had got into difficulty off Tenby’s Castle Beach.

The volunteer crew were quickly on scene and located the casualty sitting on Lion rock, unable to make it back ashore.

After checking her over to make sure she didn’t need medical attention, she was dropped back ashore at Castle Beach, where she was met by a friend who had raised the alarm.

Huge congratulations to Eddie Waring and Ben Field-Thomas! 🎉

After many months of training, hard work and assessment, both have successfully completed their training plans and taken up new roles on the inshore lifeboat.

Eddie has passed out as our latest Helm, while Ben has passed out as a Navigator. 🚤

A fantastic achievement for both of them, and a testament to the dedication and commitment they’ve shown throughout their training.

Well done, Eddie and Ben — and congratulations on your new roles! 👏

The flags at Tenby RNLI’s lifeboat stations have been lowered to half mast this evening, following the announcement by Hastings RNLI Lifeboat Station that following a medical incident at their lifeboat station last night, a much-loved and respected member of the crew sadly passed away.

The thoughts of everyone at Tenby lifeboat station are with our colleagues and friends at Hastings during this very sad, difficult and distressing time. We also extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and all those affected by this sad loss.

We would ask everyone to respect the privacy of the crew, and especially that of the family and friends, as they come to terms with such a tragic event.

Both lifeboats were requested to launch just before 6.30am on Tuesday 22nd September after a request from the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust for assistance with the medevac of a casualty that had taken ill on Caldey Island.

With the all-weather lifeboat waiting for Paramedics, the inshore lifeboat was on the water first and made its way the short distance over to the island.

Once alongside at Caldey, two crew members were taken up to the village to assess the casualty, before bringing him back down to the jetty, where the lifeboat was waiting with the ambulance crew ready to take over care. Also aboard were members of Tenby Fire and Rescue and Tenby Coastguard Rescue team in case assistance was required getting the casualty to the boat.

Arriving back in Tenby a short while later, the casualty was taken to hospital for further treatment and the lifeboat was rehoused and made ready for the next service.

Huge congrats to crew member Rhys who completed IronMan Wales in just over 13hrs. An amazing achievement when you consider he’s somehow managed to juggle training for IronMan alongside lifeboat duties, running a business, working as a firefighter, and spending time with his young family… basically, sleep clearly wasn’t on the agenda! 😂

An incredible achievement and an amazing amount of dedication. Huge respect! 💪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬 🐉
