🌿 Help care for the Colonel Stephens Greenway!

Love our local green spaces? Join the Friends of the Colonel Stephens Greenway (Old Railway Track) and help keep this much-loved route safe, attractive and welcoming for everyone.

Local volunteers can make a difference by keeping an eye on the route, reporting issues and taking part in light maintenance activities.

Interested in getting involved? Join an online introduction meeting to hear more about the role from the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust’s local volunteer co-ordinator.

Hi everyone! I’m Em, the new Events Co-ordinator at Tenterden Town Hall, and the person behind the survey you may have seen recently 👋

My first post sparked a lot of discussion, but we’ve had far fewer survey responses than I’d hoped! So I thought I’d put a face to the survey and explain a little about where I’m coming from. I’m new to the role and really excited about what we could do here. But before I get carried away planning events, I want to know what YOU would like to see and do at YOUR Town Hall.

I also wanted to reassure anyone concerned about the impact on local businesses. The aim is to work alongside our local businesses, groups and organisers, support what’s already happening and give people more reasons to spend time in Tenterden. I’d love to help make the Town Hall a welcoming place with something for everyone, and your responses will help shape what we do next. Whether you’re a regular visitor or have never stepped inside, I’d really like to hear from you.

If you can spare a few minutes to complete the survey, I’d be so grateful. Comments get the conversation started, but putting your thoughts into the survey helps us bring everyone’s feedback together when planning. And as a thank you, you’ll also have the option to enter our prize draw to win a £100 M&S voucher!

Many residents have asked for an update on the Tenterden Recreation Ground project. We appreciate that the pace of progress has been frustrating and we know residents are disappointed by the delay.

While the Town Council’s focus was necessarily directed towards completing and reopening the Town Hall, with the building now open and fully functional we are pleased to say that attention has returned to making improvements to our parks and public spaces.

Work is now underway to prepare and submit a full planning application for the Recreation Ground to Ashford Borough Council.

At the same time, improvement works at St. Michael’s Park began this week, marking the start of further investment in community spaces across the town.

We know how important these spaces are to local people and we look forward to sharing more updates as both projects move forward.
