Due to the amount of damage occurring after opening hours when local teenagers are accessing the building (as seen on cctv) any kids seen hanging around in the building and accessing after 5pm will now be reported to the police.

We can not sustain the cost of repairs any longer.
Examples being, the baby changing unit was snapped, replacement put in last week and now its had to be repaired today.
Disabled shower chair is now beyond repair, door locks broken off from clowning around, the list goes on.

This includes outside the building which one of our brand new composite benches has been melted, these were expensive.

We urge parents to speak to your teenagers.

I completely understand that's there's nowhere for them to go and nothing for them to do but causing damage is not acceptable and the costs are mounting up!

Your help with this matter is appreciated.

📢 Manx Shearwater Migration Season 📢

Every September, thousands of Manx Shearwater birds leave the comfort of their burrows in the UK and head for their wintering waters off the coast of South America.

Manx Shearwaters nest off UK shores during the summer months. This time of year, they are on migration, where they make their 7,000-8,000 mile journey to South America in as little as ten days, to return in Spring.

Bright lights can cause them to become disorientated and stranded on land.

Whilst at the Harbour we can’t switch off our pontoon lighting due to Health & Safety, we are asking for our afloat visitors to be mindful and assist with keeping lighting minimal on their vessels during this month!

‼️The Hatchery, Aros Pier Waterfront‼️

Please can dog owners refrain from putting their dog waste into the bins inside the building.

This is a health hazard to other users and the cleaners!

There are specific dog waste bins at either side of the entrance to the Aros Park carpark.

Thank you!

Today we say a fond farewell to our Marine Assistant Bobby as he progresses onto the next stage of his career.

Bobby joined the THA in 2022 straight from High School on a Marine Apprenticeship, which upon completing, progressed to Marine Assistant.

Not only assisting with day-to-day Marine Operations Bobby has also gained several accreditations from Port Security & Level 1 Oil Spill to SVQ Level 5 in Port Operations.
His approach to challenging first aid situations has been with care, calmness and due diligence.

We are losing our ‘go to guy’ for anything IT from ‘Och, this photo looks really dark’ (met with a sarcastic have you got the screen brightness turned up? It wasn’t🙈) to ‘Bobby why is this not working!? Please make it work before it goes out the window!’ to which he always did!!

It has been a delight to see your confidence dealing with our valued customers flourish.

More importantly, we are going to miss your sarcasm, dark humour and caring nature.

We are so proud of you moving into your next career journey and wish you all the best on your next adventures!

‼️AROS PARK COASTAL TRAIL CLOSURE‼️

Please adhere to Forestry and Land Scotland information below.

Access to the path from the Harbour Building and other routes to the coastal path shall be closed whilst works are being completed.

This is from 1st September for around 4 weeks.

Aros Park tree felling
Due to tree felling operations taking place adjacent to the coastal trail, the route and designated core path will be closed between 8:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, from 1 September to 10 September inclusive.

For the duration of these works, bankspersons will be on site and advance warning signage will be in place at both ends of the trail. FLS kindly ask all visitors to Aros Park to follow the safety signage and any instructions provided by site personnel.

Access to Aros Park will remain available via the Aros driveway, which will serve as the designated diversion route for the duration of these essential forestry operations. FLS encourage all visitors to use this route during the period of temporary closure.

Every effort will be made to reopen the coastal trail as soon as it is safe to do so.
