Susie received a letter from the Department of Health and Social Care, written by the Minister of State for Health. It says any substantial changes to services should be subject to appropriate engagement and, where necessary, public consultation. They should also meet the government's and NHS England's four tests for good decision making:

✅ Strong public and patient engagement
✅ Consistency with current and future patient choice
✅ A clear clinical evidence base
✅ Support from clinical commissioners

We don't see a world where any of those four standards are met let alone all of them! Please get it touch if you feel as strongly about this issue as we do.

Local people. Local hospital. Our future.

📣 | We have secured a further £8m for the fire safety work needed in Torbay Hospital's Tower Block.

We've also agreed our plan for the temporary service moves needed while this work takes place.

The moves will keep services within Torbay and South Devon, and no services are closing as part of the plan.

In Totnes we all use Torbay Hospital, it's our local hospital, and Save Torbay Hospital is working to raise awareness of the campaign to protect it.

The Red Rebels helped us spread the word, dressed all in red like the blood we all share and expressing so many emotions as they went along. Thank you to the Red Rebels for helping us publicise the campaign!

Together we can help protect Torbay Hospital.

After six months of breathing difficulties, Stuart Godwin was referred to Torbay Hospital, and he can't praise the team enough. Under the care of Dr Davis he has had Doppler tests, angiograms and MRIs, and he is due to have major heart surgery at Derriford in Plymouth, with Dr Davis picking up his care when he comes out.

In Stuart's own words, without Torbay Hospital he would be dead, simple as that. That is why Save Torbay Hospital is working to keep it going and keep it operating for our community.

Thank you for sharing your story Stuart we all hope your recovering well.

Save Torbay Hospital began as The Heart Campaign, because it was first about the cardiac department.

The Trust closed the cardiac virtual ward in the spring. It let patients who had been stabilised in hospital go home with a mobile phone, so they could contact the arrhythmia nurse straight away and be advised whether they needed to come in to Torbay Hospital.

We have been told it cost £300,000 to look after 10 to 15 patients, and that those patients now take up acute beds costing £1.2 million. It is hard to see how the sums add up!

Together we can help protect Torbay Hospital.

When Save Torbay Hospital began nearly two years ago, there was one whistleblower. Today there are 18, sharing information with the campaign.

Their identities will never be shared with anyone, ever. That information helps the campaign do what it does, and it is why Torbay Hospital cannot work out why we are ahead of the curve!

Together we can help protect Torbay Hospital.
