Afternoon tea is one of Britain’s most enduring rituals. A moment shaped by tea, conversation and a little ceremony.

This Afternoon Tea Week, we’re celebrating the journey beyond the table, from the traditions that made afternoon tea such an integral part of British culture, to the careful growing and crafting of The Most British Tea in History.

We’ve partnered with Bowood Hotel in Wiltshire to celebrate this journey, from bush to cup 🫖

Head over to be in with the chance to win an Afternoon Tea Experience for Two AND a Tregothnan hamper worth £100. All details are in their post 👀

The Tea Grown in England 🍃

From the unique gardens on the banks of the River Fal, tea has been carefully grown, harvested and crafted here on the Tregothnan estate in Cornwall since 1999.

Nurtured by a remarkable cloud forest and cultivated using homegrown innovations such as TeaBot, it is the first tea ever grown in England 🫖

For some of the younger tea gardens, harvesting has only been possible by hand picking the freshest tips for fine tea.

This year, some of those bushes are finally ready for robotic harvesting.

A maintenance cut prepares the bushes for robotic harvesting, creating a flat “tea plucking table” for new buds to flush.

Silver tips will be harvested here for white tea this week, but what makes this tea garden so unique?

River garden tea tours are running Monday-Friday all season, or why not test your tea knowledge on a tea masterclass?
