We call upon the Government to seek to rejoin the Single Market (European Economic Area) and European Free Trade Association (EFTA). We think this would be a substantial boost to the UK economy & provide reassurance and safeguards to UK citizens living & working in Europe.

Today, members of European Movement - Mid Kent walked from Chatham Waterfront bus terminus to Rochester Castle, sharing our message along the way.

In our high-vis European Movement jackets, waving European flags and the Union Jack, we handed out leaflets and chatted with people we met. We talked about the origins of the European Movement and why it matters to think again about reconnecting with the European Union.

Thank you to everyone who came along, and to the passers-by who stopped to talk. Conversations like these help keep the discussion open about Britain’s future relationship with Europe.

You can tell a lot about a project by who still defends it. Ten years on, Brexit is defended by roughly 30 per cent of the country, a shrinking rota of newspaper columnists and almost nobody who has to explain the trade figures for a living.
