I first started tutoring in January 2006 in Common Entrance Preparation (11+) and literacy. Since then, I have tutored a multitude of candidates for a variety of reasons; anything from handwriting practise to revising Chaucerian tales. I also have experience of government funded one-to-one tutoring for GCSE English students through several local authorities in Berkshire, England. For these contracts, I designed a bespoke Individual Tuition Plan (ITP) which included setting challenging targets and reviewing these targets, against the tutee's progress, on a regular basis. I also compiled lesson-by-lesson reports, for parents, as well as helpful How To guides in order to help the learners, in question, continue their learning at home; once the funding for the sessions ceased. In addition, I have ten years experience of teaching in several successful secondary schools, across Berkshire and Surrey. I teach students from the age of 11 to 18 (including GCSE and A Level students). Although I am a Qualified English Teacher, I've also taught Religious Studies, Media Studies, Film Studies, Citizenship and PSHE (Personal Social Health Education). I currently lecture in iGCSE English at a popular Further Education College, in the heart of Berkshire. I'm also responsible for the assessment and tracking of our large cohort (812 learners) as Head of iGCSE English (CIE). My strengths include utilising Individual Learner Technology (ILT) within my own pedagogy. This includes motivating learners or draft their own through online word processing packages and contributing to an online learner community, on a regular basis. In addition, I'm aiding some new colleagues with the Cambridge accreditation process to become an internal English assessor. Prior to qualifying as an English Teacher, I also worked as a Learning Support Assistant to primary school children, a voluntary Teaching Assistant and a Student Teacher. I have taught / tutored children from a range of abilities and ages.
