A "sustained extreme pressure" on the East Midlands Ambulance Service. People should only call 999 in life-threatening emergencies. NHS111 are best placed to help when it’s not an emergency
⚠️ Our service is currently experiencing exceptionally high demand and colleagues are working tirelessly to care for patients across the region. Before calling 999, please consider whether one of the following services may be more appropriate:
💊 Your local pharmacy for advice, minor illnesses and many common conditions.
📱 NHS 111 online or by phone if you need urgent medical advice and are unsure where to go.
👨⚕️ Your GP practice for routine or ongoing healthcare needs.
🏥 Urgent treatment centres and minor injury units for illnesses and injuries that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening.
This helps keep our emergency ambulances available for people who are reported to be in a life-threatening condition. For example, when someone is unconscious, not breathing, experiencing a cardiac arrest or stroke.
