The UK Government has announced its decision on local government reorganisation for Devon. There will be 4 unitary authorities: an enlarged Plymouth, an enlarged Torbay, an Exeter and area unitary authority, with the remainder of Devon, called Devon Coast and Country being a unitary authority. Silverton will be in this last authority. Devon County Council and Mid Devon District Council (and all other district councils in Devon) will be abolished.

Councils will expand in urban areas and the rest of Devon will come together under one authority.

Some people have recently been wondering on Facebook what Silverton Parish Council does. So to point you at the various documents that might help, here is the Annual Report that was presented to the Annual Parish Meeting:https://www.middevonparish.co.uk/media/285993/chair-report-may-2026.pdf
We also publish the minutes of our monthly meetings, along with agendas, action plans and related documents here: https://www.middevonparish.co.uk/silverton/meetings-agendas-minutes/
The Parish Council meets monthly, normally on the 1st Monday of the Month at 19:30 in the Dorothy Granger Room in the Millennium Hall on Wyndham Road. The first 10 minutes are set aside for questions and observations from the public, and any parishioner can attend. If you have anything urgent that might take longer than 2 or 3 minutes to discuss, please let the Clerk know a week before that date, so that it can be added to our meeting Agenda: The Clerk can be contacted at [email protected]

I hope that helps.
