Love needle felting? Learn how to teach it!

Our Evelyn Baxter Scholarship programme gives skilled SWI members the opportunity to build confidence in teaching and help others discover a new craft.

We’re looking for Evelyn Baxter Scholars for 2027, focusing on Beginners’ Needle Felting, with tuition from Lou Washington - SWI member and Royal Highland Show Handcraft Championship winner.

Successful scholars will receive two full days of tuition at SWI Central Office, with travel and paid accommodation. They’ll then put their learning into practice by teaching Federation-level classes across Scotland from March 2027.

Sad news from Roxburgh Federation. If any of our members were planning to visit the show tomorrow Roxburghshire Federation has taken the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s public viewing due to the amber weather warning.
Please stay safe everyone. DO NOT TRAVEL TO KELSO. Please pass on this news to anyone you know who may have been planning to visit.

A SAD ANNOUNCEMENT – PLEASE STAY SAFE 💗

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of the Roxburghshire Federation SWI event on Sunday 25th October, due to the Amber Weather Warning.

⚠️ IMPORTANT – PLEASE DO NOT TRAVEL TO THE BORDERS EVENT CENTRE ON SUNDAY. THE CENTRE WILL NOT BE OPEN.

The safety and wellbeing of our members will always be our absolute top priority. Although this is a very disappointing decision, especially after all the hard work and preparation that has gone into the event, we would never want anyone to put themselves at risk. ❤️

🌸 A little bit of positive news amongst the disappointment!

The standard of entries this year has been exceptionally high, and we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has taken the time, care and effort to enter. The talent, creativity and dedication shown have been wonderful to see, and you should all be incredibly proud of your achievements.

🏆 The judging has now been completed, and all winners will be contacted directly. So, although we cannot gather together as planned, your hard work has certainly not gone unnoticed!

Raffle will be drawn at 12pm on Monday 26th October and all winners contacted by Grace and the team.

📍 COLLECTION OF ENTRIES

For institutes and members who need to collect their entries, the Borders Event Centre will be open on Monday from 9am until 12 noon.

While we are truly sorry that we cannot share the excitement and celebrations of Sunday together, the wonderful spirit of our SWI community remains as strong as ever. There will be other opportunities to come together, celebrate our achievements and enjoy each other's company.

Thank you all for your understanding, patience and continued support. Please take care, stay safe and look after yourselves and one another. No event is ever more important than your safety. 💕
