Yesterday, The Golden Hinde officially received the National Historic Ships UK Flagship of the Year Award for 2026.
During a ceremony aboard the ship at St Mary Overie Dock, the official NHS-UK pennant was presented and ceremonially hoisted, marking a major milestone in our ongoing story here in Bankside.
As we celebrate our Pearl Anniversary year, this recognition reflects not only the ship’s historic significance, but the work of our incredible staff, shipwrights, volunteers, performers, educators, supporters and community partners who continue to keep this ship alive as a living space for heritage, culture and education.
A huge thank you to , to all our guests and supporters who joined us, and to everyone who has supported The Golden Hinde over the last 30 years in Southwark.
And a special thank you to for providing what may well have been the bluest cake in history to help us commemorate the occasion.
