In the run up to Halloween, we are encouraging everyone to be safe and respect others when out in our local communities.

Whether you're out trick-or-treating or celebrating at home, please remember to stay safe and look out for each other.

Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) from across the force area will be conducting high-visibility patrols, engaging with our local communities and working proactively to prevent anti-social behaviour.

Wiltshire Police ‘No trick or treat’ posters are available for display if you don’t want trick or treaters at your door this Halloween.

There are different styles to choose from and can be displayed in your home, or homes of any neighbours or relatives. It should be displayed in a prominent position either on the front door or front window.

Warminster Carnival returns this Saturday (31 October)!

If you're travelling into Warminster this weekend, please be aware that the annual carnival procession will take place on Saturday evening, bringing road closures and increased footfall in and around the Warminster town centre.

The illuminated parade will set off from Boreham Road at 6.45pm, travel through the High Street, and finish near Warminster School.

Neighbourhood officers will be on patrol throughout the event to provide reassurance, engage with the community and help ensure everyone enjoys the celebrations safely.

If you're attending, please:

✅ Allow extra time for your journey
✅ Follow any diversion routes and steward instructions
✅ Keep children with you and arrange a meeting point if separated
✅ Look out for one another and enjoy the event responsibly.

We hope everyone attending has a safe and enjoyable evening and wish the organisers and participants a fantastic carnival.

This week saw the second annual Inspire Youth Awards, an event dedicated to celebrating the incredible achievements of young people across our communities, as well as the individuals and organisations who support, encourage and inspire them every day.

Hosted by the Wiltshire Area Youth Service at Kingdown School, Warminster, the evening brought together young people, youth groups, partner agencies and community representatives to recognise the positive difference being made across the area.

We were especially pleased to see Sergeant Lyndsey Smith from the Warminster Neighbourhood Policing Team recognised for her commitment to engaging with and supporting young people within our community.

On receiving the award, Sergeant Smith was quick to highlight that this recognition reflects a true team effort. She praised the continued dedication of officers, PCSOs, youth workers, schools, community groups and partner agencies who work together to support young people, provide opportunities and help them reach their potential.

Congratulations to all of this year's nominees and winners. Thank you for the positive contribution you make to our communities every day.

As part of Project Zero and our ongoing commitment to improving road safety, a speed enforcement activity session was carried out in Chilmark on the B3089 Salisbury Road.

Within 20 minutes, officers recorded 2 vehicles exceeding the 30mph speed limit. The highest recorded speed was 43mph in a 30mph limit.

One driver will be offered a speed awareness course, and another will recieve a fixed penality notice and 3 points. Subject to their previous driving history, with further proceedings considered where appropriate.

🚗 A reminder to all motorists: 30mph limits are there to protect everyone using our roads, including pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users.

Be safe. Drive smart. Watch your speed.

Officers from the Warminster Neighbourhood Policing Team have been carrying out targeted late-evening and overnight patrols across Warminster, Westbury, Tisbury and Mere to prevent and disrupt rural crime.

Patrols have focused on concerns around poaching, hare coursing, farm burglaries and suspicious activity linked to the scouting of farms and rural properties.

Through high-visibility patrols, intelligence-led activity and engagement with local landowners, we will continue working to deter offenders and help keep our rural communities safe.

👀 If you see anything suspicious or have information about rural crime, please report it to us. Your information could make all the difference.
