Please share this poster as wide as you can in York. This is an excellent initiative but we need children and young people who have a direct link with the forces.

The last 3 days of wearing this badge. Almost all of my engagements this has accompanied me. Worn over 600 times in the last 12 months. I think we’ve become very attached really. The title, the robes, the chains and this badge all get passed on to the next Lord Mayor on Thursday!!

2 engagements for the Lord Mayor today. A visit to the studios of YorkMix radio to chat about the Lord Mayors Christmas Cheer event on Tuesday 2nd December. Then this afternoon I have a wonderful visit to Clifton with Rawcliffe Primary School where I did an assembly with the whole school and took questions from the student council. I was looked after by the deputy head Beverley Wright who has been at the school for 36 years!!

A remarkable 5 days in China as the Lord Mayor of York. Treated as a VIP everywhere we went. I greeted old friends of York from previous civic visits and connections, and made new friends too. I gave the keynote speech at an international Innovation Fair in our sister city of Nanjing. Met educational leaders in Suzhou to hear about an exchange visit from one of their schools to York in May, and will hopefully establish a pathway for more cultural school exchange visits in the future. I witnessed the signing of 2 memorandum’s of understanding between York and Suzhou and York and Shanghai, and met Mayors, deputy Mayors and senior community leaders all keen to establish new friendships and build on our established old ones. I got to see some amazing sites, eat some amazing food, meet some amazing people and appreciate the wonderful, rich, diverse, and welcoming land and people that make up China. A huge thank you to Will Zhuang for making all the arrangements and to Haoming for serving us as Will’s assistant and chief bag carrier. Now time for a cup of Yorkshire Tea!!
