The A449 between Usk and Raglan will be closed in both directions overnight on Saturday 24th October.

The closure is scheduled to run from 10pm on Saturday until 8am on Sunday 25th October, with diversions in place.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.

A472 Footpath closures

Monmouthshire County Council will be undertaking footway repair and resurfacing works. The works are planned to commence on the 02/11/2026 for up to 10 weeks.

Due to the nature of the work, sections of footway will have to be closed to allow the works to take place safely. Where driveway access is affected, or you have specific concerns regarding access/egress, please liaise with the Operatives on site during the times of the work, and please ensure vehicles are not parked alongside the areas of work.

If you have garden hedges that overhang the footway, please can you cut them back before the 02/11/2026.

Works are not planned to be carried out on weekends, bank holidays or the Christmas week, however, if this was to change, properties effected by the change would be informed.

N.B, we aim to complete the works within the 10 week period, however, end dates could be prolonged as a result of issues outside of our control, please accept our apologies if the dates alter for any reason.

Important Travel Update – Llanellen Bridge / Hardwick Lane

Welsh Water will begin essential work to upgrade water mains in the Llanellen Bridge area from Monday 28 September.

The work is expected to take approximately 10 weeks and will affect traffic travelling to and from Abergavenny. Please plan ahead, allow extra time for your journey and be aware of the following traffic arrangements:

🔴 Hardwick Lane – Full Road Closure
📅 28 September – 9 December 2026

Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services. All other traffic will need to follow the clearly signposted diversion route.

🚦 Hardwick Lane / Llanellen Bridge Junction – Temporary Three-Way Traffic Lights
📅 6 – 23 October 2026

The work will replace ageing water mains in the area, helping to reduce the risk of bursts and leaks and provide a more reliable water supply. Welsh Water advises that the work should not affect water supplies.
