We welcome the Government’s announcement that Healthwatch England and local Healthwatch organisations will be retained and strengthened. The decision follows concerns that plans to abolish Healthwatch would remove an independent voice for people using health and social care services.

We’ll continue listening to people across Wirral, sharing your experiences to help improve services, and helping you find information and support.

Thank you to the public and local partners for your support during this period of uncertainty.

If you’re on a low household income, you may be able to get help with your Council Tax through Council Tax Reduction (CTR), potentially reducing your bill by up to 50%.

You won’t get this automatically, you need to apply.

You may be able to claim whether you rent or own your home, and whether you’re working or not. What you’re entitled to depends on your circumstances, including:

🤔 Whether you’re responsible for paying the Council Tax
👵Your age and whether you’re working age
🏠 Your household income and any benefits you receive
đź’· Your savings, pension or other capital
🧑🏼‍🤝‍🧑🏼 Who lives in your household
👉 Don’t miss out – apply to Wirral Council:

Apply for Council Tax Reduction - https://www.wirral.gov.uk/benefits-and-money/council-tax-reduction/apply-council-tax-reduction

If you think you may have been entitled earlier, you can also ask for your claim to be backdated if you have a reason why you couldn’t apply sooner. You’ll need to explain why and provide evidence.

📣 For our partners: If you’re supporting someone who may be struggling with their Council Tax, please signpost them to the application above.

*Please note: this information is for Wirral residents. Please check with your local Council about what is available to you if you live outside of Wirral.*

Young children can catch and spread flu easily, and it can be very unpleasant for them. It can also lead to serious health complications.

Vaccination helps protect them, as well as others who are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu, such as babies, anyone who's pregnant, and older people.

Most kids get the vaccine in the form if a quick, painless spray up the nose – it only takes a second, but can help provide the protection needed for them and others over the winter.

Pre-schoolers can get vaccinated at their GP surgery, so accept the invitation to help protect them and others.
