🇬🇧 ✈️ Personnel from across RAF Benson gathered to commemorate the Battle of Britain through parades held by the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess and the Officers’ Mess.

The Officers’ Mess parade was marked by a Spitfire flypast, providing a fitting tribute to the aviators whose courage, skill and determination helped secure victory during one of the most pivotal campaigns in the Royal Air Force’s history.

As a Station community, we paused in remembrance of “The Few” and all those who served during the Battle of Britain, acknowledging the debt owed to a generation whose sacrifice helped secure the freedoms we continue to defend today.

Today, RAF Benson proudly rededicated its restored Spitfire Gate Guardian, honouring the courage, sacrifice and service of those who fought in the Battle of Britain and commemorating the 86th anniversary of this defining chapter in our nation’s history.

The restored aircraft, bearing the colours chosen to honour Flight Sergeant William “Bill” Johnson, stands as a lasting tribute to the generations who have served before us and a reminder of the enduring values of duty, resilience and service.

Lest we forget.
