Our short story competition launches today! We are looking forward to uncovering fresh talent, imaginative stories and unique voices from across the county. The competition provides a fantastic opportunity for locals to turn the page on their writing journey, get their work discovered, and share their stories with library customers across Oxfordshire.

Open to everyone aged 7 and above, the competition features three categories: Children, Young Adult and Adult. If you know any budding authors who have a story waiting to be written, please encourage them to enter!

What a brilliant summer we had at Wantage Library! We met so many lovely people. Some regular library users, some who were visiting us for the first time. We had so much fun talking about the brilliant books our Summer Reading Challenge participants read, handing out stickers and celebrating so many bookish wins.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge. You did a wonderful job and we loved every single moment. To the authors and groups who visited the library to help make the summer even more special, thank you. To the parents and carers who cheered alongside us, thank you. And most of all, to the children who took part, THANK YOU. You made it a summer to remember and we're already looking forward to next year's challenge! See you again in 2027, if not sooner.
