Hello All, Yesterday more work continued in the yard with another panel of track built up and laid to extend the new storage siding we are currently laying. Over the last couple of weekends we have laid the last of our flat bottom rails on concrete sleepers on the south side running line upgrade in the yard, this also involved a few rails having to be cut to the correct length to level the joints up. We will now bridge the remaining gap of around 40 foot using bullhead rails on concrete sleepers. As we are now well into October there are just three remaining Sundays left to travel on our railway, before the end of our running season for 2026 .

Hello Everyone, Sunday we had quite a few passengers & visitors during the day .In the yard more preparation work has taken place for the new siding installation and the flat bottom rail re-lay, digging out and removing ash ballast, the ash ballast removed for the flat bottom rail re-lay is being used to level the trackbed for the new siding. Yesterday another 23 concrete sleepers were positioned ready for the lengths of flat bottom rail to be installed. The Cumbrian weather is being very kind to us so far for these projects to progress which is very unusual for Warcop. Tomorrow and Wednesday are the last of our August midweek running days and we will be running trains on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday next weekend after which it will just be back to just Sunday running days until the last Sunday in October.

Hello Everyone, We had quite a busy day yesterday with plenty of visitors & passengers. .Late afternoon a shunt of the rolling stock was done to get the Thumper in position in the platform ready for Tuesday's running day .The permanent way gang were busy in the yard doing preparation work for the flat bottom rail relay ,where two more 60 foot bullhead rails were removed and dragged out of the way and then a further 9 timber sleepers were lifted out ready for the ash ballast removal to commence ready for the next concrete sleepers to be laid out .One flat bottom Rail was cut to size using the rail saw. Last weekend saw repairs to our rail drill which was refusing to start, this required the drill being stripped down and repairs done to the magneto ignition which I'm pleased to say is now starting up first time and running fine as we have quite a few of the rails to drill for the fishplate bolt holes. Don't forget we are still doing our mid-week running days Tuesday / Wednesday for the next two weeks.

Hello Everyone, Over the weekend A shunt of stock was done to get the Thumper Unit back into the platform for our Sunday services. The P-way gang did their track inspection walk with the usual tasks mainly knocking back in any loose keys . Then a start was made positioning the next concrete sleepers into place for the next panel of flat bottom rails to be laid in the yard upgrade. We had a good number of visitors throughout the day. This week saw the start of the repairs to Sandford road bridge as a result of the over height Skip Lorry striking the bridge and causing damage in 2024. This as resulted in the closure of the road under the bridge whilst repair work is done.

Hello Everyone, Yesterday we had a steady flow of visitors throughout the day with quite a few who had also visited the model railway show held at our good friends at Kirkby Stephen East Station where our railway also had a trade stand attending .Over the weekend work continued in the yard with another 60 foot track panel laid on the new storage siding installation, it just requires fish plating and a few tweaks before ballasting can commence. The site had all the grass mowed around the station area whilst the weather was hot and the grass very dry.
