We’d like to reassure members of the Warminster community following an incident today (14/10) which caused some concern.

Officers were called to Imber Avenue at around 3pm following reports of a suspicious package.

A cordon was put in place and following inspection by EOD professionals, the package was identified as a training aid and not a viable device.

We understand incidents of this nature can cause a lot of concern – please be reassured reports of this nature are taken and dealt with extremely seriously.

Officers from the Warminster Neighbourhood Policing Team have been carrying out targeted evening and overnight patrols across Warminster, Westbury, Tisbury and Mere to tackle rural crime.

Recent patrols have focused on preventing and disrupting offences such as poaching, hare coursing, farm burglaries, and suspicious activity around farms and rural properties.

Using a combination of high-visibility patrols, intelligence-led policing and close working with local landowners, we will continue to target those who commit crime in our rural communities.

If you see anything suspicious, please report it to us. Your information could help us prevent crime and identify offenders.

👮‍♀️ Community Drop-In at St John’s Historic Almshouse 🏡

Yesterday (25/09), PCSO Kolasinski held a community drop-in at St John’s Historic Almshouse in Heytesbury, giving local residents the opportunity to meet their local officer, discuss any concerns they may have and receive helpful crime prevention advice.

The event also included a cyber crime prevention and protection session, delivered by Simon Goodwin, Cyber Crime Prevent & Protect Officer. Simon spoke with residents about common cyber security issues, online scams and the steps they can take to help protect themselves from cyber crime. 💻🔐

The community drop-in provided an opportunity for residents to speak directly with their local officer about matters affecting their community, raise concerns, ask questions and receive advice and support, particularly for those who may have been affected by crime.

If you believe your community could benefit from a similar cyber crime prevention talk, please get in touch with us by emailing [email protected].

Thank you to everyone who came along and took the time to speak with us. Your concerns and feedback are important in helping us understand and respond to issues affecting our local communities.
